Nope. Bungie will not take a clan name away from someone cause another player wants it.
Either message him or make a clan name similar to the one you want.

I did both of those. No reply from the other player. And it's one thing to take a clan name from a player who still plays the game, I'd never ask or suggest that Bungie should do something like that. But it's another thing when the player with the rights to the clan name hasn't even logged on to the game for almost 2 years. I mean he could have given up gaming forever for all I know. And if that's the case, it seems wrong that the clan name will [i]never[/i] be able to be used again and there's no way to make it available again.
