• Suspensions tell you that something is wrong and you need to deal with it, rather than ruining other people’s experience of play. And most people won’t deal with that problem until you make it in their interests to find it and fix it.

    • I just love the fact that we have reached a scenario in gaming that if a person is not paying for and guaranteeing the quality of their connection... they can be penalized with their purchase. Could you imagine that if you get a couple of speeding tickets, and you car manufacturer turns your car off and makes it unusable? So, does your game become unusable, or is it just crucible? I mean, can you still play pve with friends etc?

        •
Why should I dare warn them so they might prevent what they deserve?

I’ll survive knowing I won’t get banned from Crucible knowing how the system works.
You were saying that not only were these things not preventable, but the user wouldn't even know there was an issue. What happened? Did people call you out on your bullshit?

            • Bungie holds onto an antiquated idea... P2P. P2P allows for exploitation , and shoddy connection. Rather than fix it, Bungie bans players. More players leave. Because players leave there are less complaints. Bungie pats themselves on back for reducing complaints.

                • How bizarre. I'll say, without redacting it or in fact ever returning to this thread again given the apparently emotionally compromised nature of it all: Merely getting a warning about leaving a match due to some kind of error - Squash Flower or something - caused an existential crisis wherein I questioned my role in the world, the fairness of it all, the idea of being warned by unknown device over a forced error and how now I may be considered naughty when I'm possibly the least naughty thing ever in the eyes of any machine... I thought once about going to the forum with my crisis but I did not, knowing how upset I was (extremely). In this, I can maybe appreciate the initial motivation here, but that's all. Also, I had no idea that P2P was in use. Also, I am concerned about post deletions of any kind, but not overly concerned. Overall, it has been worth my time (as an internal metric) I guess to browse through this thread, and I'm sorry about suspensions and bans wholesale, even should they happen to me. Cheers! Happy Valentine's Day!

                • The biggest problem with any kind of appeals process, even a 1-time deal, is evident in the sheer number of posts on here from people who insist they shouldn't have been banned "because they can play other games with no issues." There's far too many people who simply don't actually understand why they got suspended, that their appeals would amount to nothing useful, as since they don't believe they actually have a problem, they won't do anything to actually fix it.

                  • Suspension =/= Ban It doesn't matter why your internet sucks. If you consistently play on a bad connection you're hurt the experience for everyone involved.

I do and on the rare occasion that it is low I leave......simple. And in any case the significant problem is the cheating with modded controllers.

                    • And then theres people in locations that simply dont offer the latest and greatest in internet speeds no matter how much money you're willing to throw at an isp, because the infastructure is not in place, which is literally any small town, rural area, entire states and countries, so yeah, its a stupid system.

                      • I like the system. Legitimate issues or no, it's removing people who have (can't deny this part) had a poor connection at some point in their Crucible history. Hopefully we can expect it to grow from here and become a bit more concise. One thing I'd like to see is like a breath test interlock on a car: if you're restricted at any point, you can't play Crucible unless you pass a connectivity test. I don't really care if they couldn't have done anything to avoid it, clearly they were impacting other players and they needed to go. No sympathy from me...

                            • That is why they go over the data and see the inconsistencies in your connection. One warning doesn’t do much, but multiple warnings gets Bungies attention. If you all the sudden have an issue that you didn’t cause, you’d still know, and you should still not enter crucible until you can find a fix for that issue. Has happened to me numerous times, and I won’t go into crucible if I notice something weird. What exactly would an appeal do??? Like what proof can you have to show Bungie that you didn’t or did know what was going on?? Plus let’s not forget the additional time they would need to go through each appeal...not very good for the position they are in now.

                              • And that kids, is why you turn your toaster oven into a a radar dish to connect you to the rest of the internet world. Don't actually try it. You need the oven for your frozen food. And also it doesn't work. Anytime I experience issues, which has been rare because I have been on my ISPs ass for trying to do dumb things, I call them. I pay good money for good service. I don't pay to not have internet. I haven't had any issues outside of things like power outages and maintenance. So I have no clue about these issues.
