While Destiny has a little something, something for everyone, lately one weapon seems to have divided a whole community.
It’s just my opinion, but I feel there just hasn’t been a lot of great loot added lately and this far more causes the division against most people. Why? Because there really hasn’t been that many new exotics since Destiny 2’s release.
Bungie shows a kick a** video and people that may have not played lately because they got burned out, bored or whatever, see it and jump on the hype train. Kind of like that rush when you hear new content coming. You know when it’s coming so you jump right back to chase the new carrot. Well, there haven’t been that many carrots lately so the video caused the blood to pump again and people rush to get started as soon as they can.
If you go back and check the videos Bungie released, it pretty much summed up what was coming and where to get it. Now as awesome as the video was, seeing TLW got me hyped (even though I play quite a bit) but I knew that for the most part, this was going to have something to do with PVP.
The impatient rush to grab the quest and get started caused most non-PVP players to hit a wall once they finished the initial quest. Some, myself included, still amped jumped right into the Crucible. My rush and impatience proved to get the best of me when I saw the scoring. I now understand why competitive players get upset.
Needless to say, it started to make the community a little more divided than ever before. Yes, I have had my own troubles but I have carpal tunnel and sometimes gaming is a chore but that doesn’t stop me. Ulnar Neuropathy caused it. But I digress. I still play my little heart out. There are challenges in the game. Just like anything worth having, you have to work for it; if it’s to have any true value.
I’ve enjoyed working for certain items versus exotic RNG. I know not everyone has the same amount of game time and everyone will have different play styles. There is something for everyone. There are some things I would like to have. Some things I realize will take either more time to get or its value just isn’t worth my time.
The Last Word pretty much causes that “gotta” have it itch. I still don’t have the Rat King, but so what? Can I get it? Yes, I guess, if I wanted to put forth the effort. For me, it’s just not something I want. Point is, nothing is out of reach if you want it bad enough. I have raged and have vented over this quest, but it was my fault. My impatience caused my issues.
Sadly, this weapon seems to have just split a lot of folks. You either PVP or you don’t. People have made it abundantly clear which side of the see-saw they are on. Can’t we all just play in the park together?
I wish you all the very best in all of your endeavors.

1 ReplyHoly mother of no paragraphs. I wanted to read it but man, that hurts.

Good God man. You need to apply for a job at the white house. I hear they are looking for people who can build walls like this. That's a huge wall of text. No guardian is going to be using a ladder on that one.

Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 2/3/2019 3:23:03 PMThe nature of the game makes it this way. It’s very divisive. If they would open this game up and stop letting it suffocate itself with how rigid it is, there would be much less strife within the community. The game desperately needs to let people play the activities they like to acquire gear instead of so heavily dictating everyone’s experiences. I remember prior to D1 when they were talking about how everyone would have stories for how they earned their gear. What ever happened to that? Everyone does the exact same thing to earn something. There are no stories. There’s one story, and too often it’s more like a task that feels like a chore.

28 RepliesThis community has always been divided between the extreme minority of PvP tryhards and everyone else. That minority is extremely loud and wets their pants while throwing a tantrum anytime something effectively counters the current meta. I had TLW on day one but the quest was awful. There was no innovation or fun. Which is always the problem with PvP: it isn’t fun. So next time if Bungie wants to make a quest for an exotic require PvP perhaps they can make those steps interesting in some way. Maybe a step for TLW could’ve required hip fire kills. Or maybe Bungie could just work on making crucible an enjoyable game mode to play. Pretty much no one plays unless they have a quest step or need powerful gear. So Bungie the time has come to fix crucible and make it fun for a much wider audience or just abandon any crucible specific rewards. It’s that or it’s going to be a ghost town. Fun. That needs to be your number one concern. Keep that in mind Bungie because you’re making a GAME, not a professional competition where how good or bad someone is should determine their level of enjoyment.

Bungie is the most toxic. They are censoring the forums and deleting popular posts.
-
Crucible is currently a dumpster fire. Instead of fixing it they keep attaching gear to crucible to try and lure people in. Just remember... ... IT'S A TRAP!!!...

Sorry couldn’t read making me dizzy

9 RepliesBungie made a mistake in thinking PVP parts in a legendary exotic quest would still work and people would eat their slop up and not say anything . They chose a side the anyway and so have I and others . Oh and if Thorn is this way no problem Anthem will be here and this game will die

1 ReplyThe people who complain about it are below average players in my opinion. I’m a middle of the pack in pvp and finished it in 6 matches. The medals I did easily in mayhem. If you hate pvp (other than you’re a completionist) why do you want the gun considering it’s made for pvp?

4 RepliesEdited by chomperzzs⁷: 2/3/2019 10:28:10 PMIts because PvE players like to complaining about PvP because they suck and don't know why so they complain to bungie expecting bungie to some how make them not suck. Hope bungie doesn't change crucible for players that don't even like Or play PvP but love to complain about it

That is what pisses me off about the game when they lock BIS loot behind bullshit, there is not enough BIS loot to grind for in tons of activitys to do in the game with no reason to do them, so when bugie locks loot behind sweaty tryhards in crucible instead of making it a random rolled drop from multiple activitys its just a waste. Weapons could drop from crucible/strikes/blind well/NF/forges etc, then everybody gets a chance to grind for a god roll they all should have a chance then maybe people might enjoy the game however they like to play instead of being a toxic boring mess atm.

holy shit.. PARAGRAPHS -blam!-ING USE THEM

34 exotics.. that’s how many destiny 1 exotics are in the loot pool. Of 116.

3 Replies"Lately" :D As long as I've been in this forum it's been kinda toxic and kinda sad. I say "kinda" cause other forums are worse. ;)

2 RepliesI said the forums would be like this the week before TLW dropped, it was the same for thorn, it will be the same for thorn v2. Bungie love to split their own community.

3 RepliesThe pvp part sucks for the ones that don't like pvp. The good thing is that Mayhem is this week. Just play conservative. It sucks playing Mayhem like that, but it is what it is. Once you get the kills, the badges are easy to earn this week. Play a few matches and throw Nova Bombs around a corner.. they'll add up in a few matches. I think I got mine by the time I got the weekly milestone. The REAL issue is PVP isn't fun for a LOT of people. That's on Bungie. When there are hundreds of posts on the community board, Reddit and everywhere else on how much of a dumpster fire one of your game modes is, then that's on the developer. With new weapon quests designed around a game mode that maybe 30% of your player base doesn't do because they absolutely detest it breeds division.. it's working like a champ around here too.

Please break some of those paragraphs up.
-
bruh the PVP steps for TLW is basic and easy. Mainly just play smart and wins your engagements.
-
my god man, you need some paragraphs why make tons of readers skip your diatribe simply because of your 'wall of text' style of writing?
-
No. Play the game.

Edited by Tigerpaws: 2/3/2019 7:48:33 PMThe pvp part for this was easy and I only have a low KD (I think, i dont know where to check my stats). Took me 6 games for the first part and 3 games of mayhem for the medals. I just waited for someone to die and ran in there with the super. As for the gun, in the right hands it's a beast - in my hands it's a potato. Much prefer the dreaming city HC or the orchid. Point being if you set aside sometime to play pvp, the quest becomes pretty easy. Anyways I'm more interested in the thorn

4 RepliesI dont understand why people are upset that there are pvp steps for tlw. It's mainly a pvp inspired weapon, so of course there were gonna be pvp steps to get it. Just like for the chaperone, which is mainly a pvp weapon as well. Yea, people may not like the crucible, but the steps to get weapons that are pvp inspired have not been hard and are very doable, so no need to be upset about them. If there was a reason to be upset about tlw quest, it was the lost sector part, that makes no sense for that gun.

Not while crucibabies rule the game I am sad to say.
-
We want this game to be great and the people who can do just that do literally nothing to improve it. Thus it makes us salty.

The community has never been better, D2 forums are nothing like D1. Now, it's mostly whining; 2 seconds too long to do this, an extra tower visit, not enough shaders. It's OK to care about that stuff and try to get change but this is far from "sad and toxic".
