So gambits live right now(love it btw) but right now I’m here to all about some of the things the drifter has said. So one in particular I found interesting was during an invasion he said “Embrace the darkness! Kill those guardians” and just.... wowza. Kind of dark there eh? I know people have already been speculating his fascination with the darkness but I’m curious as to what others have heard. Also, when you go into a game next, look behind him and check out the takeny blob.

"Who's better than you? Nobody! You killed everyone else."

2 RepliesAlright, alright, alright

5 Replies“The other team’s awful! Just kidding”- The drifter. “So what i was at the battle of twilight gap. My grandma was too. Who wasn’t?”- The drifter.

4 RepliesEdited by izz: 9/2/2018 5:41:13 PMIdk but In the beyond launch vidoc they say that we will focus on the drifter in Jokers wild. Based off of all these things he’s said, I think that he might be the villain...

4 RepliesI’ve also heard a voice line if you win that’s interesting. “Good haul! I’m gonna do something with all those motes you collected. Something that’ll make you shiver...”

1 ReplyEdited by Rockefeller: 9/3/2018 7:34:24 PMI like his voice lines and I love that bungie is actually exploring the shadows of Yor

The voice of The Drifter also voices Death the Kid from Soul Eater and Natsu from Fairy Tail. I'll let that sink in.

2 RepliesI'm a big fan or the voice actor for him, and was nice hearing him again

6 RepliesWhy is his ship connected to that big rock? Is it a shard of the Traveler or just a big asteroid?

Edited by HiddenAlignment: 9/3/2018 1:56:23 AM“Woo! They should have run! Look at ‘em now! They’re dead!”

In between rounds he pretty much said your teams sucks....... just joking
but he wasn't wrong.
-
When you invade there is a chance for him to say “This must be how the Taken feel!” He seemed a little too exited
-
2 Replies"You just summoned a Taken Ogre! You're a terrible person..." Best line by far ^^^

4 RepliesGo read the mined lore on Reddit. It's much, much darker and more awesome than whatever it is you're imagining now. Prepare to have your mind blown.

4 RepliesTheory: The Drifter is Dennis Reynolds.

7 RepliesAnother thing I noticed: When you’re in the waiting room, if you attack the wall it behaves like any other wall, your melee attack doesn’t register and you don’t use the animation used when attacking enemies. However, when you attack the wall next to the Drifter, the animation plays for actually going through with a melee attack, and you target him like you would with any other enemy. Does this mean that we could actually end up fighting the Drifter, if he is registered as an enemy that we can physically attack?

My favourite was when I took out a full team with sleeper.

16 RepliesEdited by Riceboy: 9/2/2018 3:14:40 PMFrom my understanding, and keep in mind I do not have a great grasp on the overall lore: -He has been around for a long time. He speaks a lot about how the Cabal didn’t use to focus on warfare, almost as if they were peaceful creatures. -He needs a lot of motes. He said something like “I need more of those motes!” to the enemy team that I just won a round against. Not that they need it for winning, but that he needs them. We’re doing his work for him by collecting these things, and whatever he is planning is something big. Now the plan he has for the motes were collecting for him will probably have something to do with his big orb, but what is the orb? It could be some sort of small moon/planet, it could be a large structure, a servitor-like creature (We have seen humongous servitors in the past, like in Rise of Iron’s area. Also, and this is a stretch, but it could have something to do with the Traveler. The only real reasons I have to suspect it is linked closely to the Traveler are a couple of similarities between the two subjects. The “Drifter”, the “Traveler”. Both sort of mean the same thing, both have something to do with a damn big space orb and the darkness/light. This is all just random speculation off the top of my head, chances are none of it is right, and like I said I do not have a good grasp on the lore so I’m just spouting nonsense at this point. Nonetheless, he’s an interesting topic. Also, what is with all the organic looking stuff around the ship? There’s some behind him in the waiting zone, there’s some behind where you spawn in his ship, there’s some connecting his ship to the big orb. Is it feeding on the motes he collects, is it passing it on to the orb, is it controlling him in some way? Whatever the case, it looks damn sinister.

2 RepliesOnce he said something like "Yeah, I was at the battle of twilight gasp; so was my grandma. Now let's get to killing." Turn really funny to dark so fast. I like the drifter.

3 RepliesEdited by Sabre: 9/2/2018 11:27:39 AMThe Drifter is actually affiliated with Dredgen Yor or the Shadows of Yor. It's evident in the lore for the Malfeasance. https://db.destinytracker.com/d2/en/items/204878059-malfeasance The "Man with the Golden Gun" is what I believe to be Shin Malphur. The Drifter says that he was looking for a replacement for Thorn, and the most famous wielder of the Thorn was Dredgen Yor, so could he want to follow in his footsteps? When he says "We", It could refer to the Shadows of Yor. EDIT: Further evidence found: https://www.destinypedia.com/Dredgen_Yor Years after Yor's demise, his dark legend has nevertheless earned a following among the Guardians in the form of the Shadows of Yor, a group of Crucible fighters who utilize cleansed replicas of Thorn, and seek to follow in Yor's footsteps, explaining away his evil deeds as misunderstood despair.

I think he said good job at one point and I never felt happier. Lol.
