Warning....rant:
I put a good amount of time into the beta. I hit level 20 (max is 25) and man it just doesn't feel like it's worthy of being called a cod game...let alone a bops cod. It's trying to be everything but what cod is (was) and thats -blam!-ing sucks man. The whole time I was playing I just had this feeling like something was missing. Like the soul of the it was gone. I don't care what anyone says there's no denying it.
I probably would have had more fun playing Warframe....and I hate that game.
They tried to rip off of too many games, R6 being the main game. If players thought Destiny 2 was a shell of a game?.... In my honest opinion this game is about the same kind of bad (in it's own way) and is definitely not worth 60-120$. Not saying D2 is worth it either.
Considering the campaign is gone, I don't understand why they say the game takes place yeerars after the other games... it doesn't matter.
Few things I did like:
The gunplay felt a million times better than it did in bop3. I love the health bar way more then I like the 3/4/5/6 tic hit markers.
The movement was good also. Way better than bop3. I kept trying to wall run or jump, but im happy it's boots on the ground.
The weapons felt better than they did in Black Ops 3. The bullet patterns were exactly as they said they would be in the stream. I felt like once I got used to it the guns I could control patterns.
Things that got to me:
Trying to respawn by hitting but and getting map screen after skipping the kill cam.
The operators....I mean.... whatever.... classes are both rip off of R6 or remixed from bops3. Some were op as -blam!- and some up as -blam!-. Could change, it is a beta after all.
I only ever played the two maps, I'm sick of three lane maps though.
The score strikes were trash....won't go to deep into that. I'll let you decide when u play.
I hate the TTK and the syringe. Now shooting engagements are longer....like destiny 2 was at first.
Though the game felt better than Black Ops 3. The graphics looked a bit more cartoony. Softer/smoother colors....like fortnight imo. Black Ops 3 had a bit more....grain/distortion. Black Ops 3 felt darker also because of how dark the campaign was.
That's another thing that gets to me. The campaign always got me invested in the games. It sets the tone, and depending on how good the campaign is I'm more immersed into everything the game has to offer. Zombies and multiplayer. Without that.... I don't -blam!-ing know what this is. I'm now emotionally attached to it. Idk...call me strange or corny.
I'm sure most will disagree here, but I felt like I was playing an knockoff version of cod... an indie or f2p game. Yes the demo had a few features I loved but in all....hollow experience man. 60$ for 2/3 a game isn't good.
Will edit for errors
Edit: I wasn't playing alone btw, me and my brother both played. He gave up when he hit about level 10.
Edit: lmao https://youtu.be/Q8ZbWUlgm3M this guy took works out of my mouth!!! He....it's like he was in the same room with me playing the damn beta!!!!
No seriously it's kinda scary how he said a lot if what I said almost word for word. And no joke I just found this video today.

They -blam!-ed up so many times they don't even remember how to make a cod game. And remember, some of the best cod's like bo2, bo1, mw2, mw3, and mw, we're VERY simple. No crazy ass machanics or specialists or anything. You had 2 guns, 2 grenades, and 3 killstreaks. Now you have a lot more annoying shit to deal with
-
1 ReplyWe need to go back to MW2.
-
I gotta see for myself since i genuinely actually love Blops 3 (i cam firmly say that after three years of consistently playing). I heard there's a PC open beta and give it a chance. Didnt care much for WW2, just got boring after about 3 weeks.
-
i agree, it felt nothing like cod anymore.

1 ReplyI won't be buying it, first time I genuinely mean that since my first COD game (MW). The campaign is the big reason why. I don't play tonnes of COD, just a few games every now and then, but the campaign always gave me that fun little crazy action stuff that gave me enough enjoyment to warrant buying a game I'd rarely play. It's faltered in recent years, with ww2s over use of cutscenes and BO3s IMO just being trash, but there'll always be miss steps. But hearing it'd be removed and swapped in for a battle royale mode? I'm not supporting that... especially since they kept the black ops title. Suppose that brand moneys to much to miss out on. As for what I've seen from the multiplayer? It looks like they're trying to rip off R6s and overwatch, then throwing the COD skin on it...and of course that other popular game everyone loves, fortnite. Feels like they just gathered around and threw the popular stuff in...of course there'll be loot boxes and that big map pack bundle (all or nothing of course). I don't know how they can even try and justify the $100 (AUD) price tag, with loot boxes and DLC... they've always used the campaign as the big excuse, but now they don't have a campaign.

3 RepliesNice Summation! Held off on pre-ordering just because of no campaign. Decided to wait for a really good sale(maybe spring 2019) because I hate br games. Hoping something happens to change my mind, but I doubt it will.
-
I'll miss the co-op campaign black ops 3 had. I agree, strictly pvp isn't fun.

1 ReplyI played cod BO1 back in 2011. I was late coming in but it was the first multiplayer game I ever played. Loved it. Played with a bunch of good guys and still buddy’s with some of em. Switched to bf3 shortly after and defo a battlefield player now. Maybe it because I’m getting older. Who knows. But to hell with it. Red dead 2 will be the game I’m playing this year, and possibly fallout 76. Call of duty can “ jog on “ as my kid says. 👍

1 ReplyYou're feeling like BOP4 is a shell of a game without the campaign is exactly why I didn't even play the BETA. To me, the campaign is where I get a feel for the guns while getting an awesome Michael Bay style campaign that you don't really get from strictly single player games. Without the campaign it might as well be Destiny, or Overwatch.
-
8 RepliesOnce they said it had no campaign, I made the decision to not buy it. I will never play a game with no campaign. The whole reason I buy games is for campaign. I'll catch it on Youtube when the game releases. Maybe my mind will change then.
-
1 ReplyI feel like this my be the first cod i genuinely wont play a lot of, still gonna buy it but idk, beta was doing too well and may sell it, was mainly gonna get it because mates were too
-
1 ReplyI remember when CoD used to set the standard. They were the innovators and trend setters. Now, they are out of step and copying what others are doing. Reacting instead of creating. They need new leadership, that's for sure.
-
if they took cod2 and made a br out of it the game would sell like crazy as br games are extremely popular and there isnt 1 decent first person br game out.
-
2 RepliesI agree that Black Ops 4 feels... undercooked. It feels less like a sharp, crisp CoD experience and more like Activision tried to fluff it up for the sake of eSports. Slower TTK's, lone players are less of a threat, bigger emphasis on teamplay and synergizing abilities... Can't say it's the modern-gen Call of Duty I was looking forward to.
-
black ops 4 is trash like every other game
-
3 RepliesI dropped this cancer after MW2. Join me in freedom, brother.

I stopped playing Call of Duty in 2009. I was a fan of the original games as well as Modern Warfare, but after CoD 4's sequel it became really apparent that the quality had begun to slip. Though it's not surprising that the series keeps selling given CoD's demographic; the last few games have proven that Activision can shovel out a pile of steaming shit every year and the fans will still purchase it.
-
When I played the beta for the first 2 days or so one thing became apparent: There had to have been some kind of Destiny level reboot sometime during the 3 year development cycle. I mean 3 years to develop this game and this is what they have to show for it? I know it’s a beta, but still, the beta left much to be desired. I enjoyed BO3’s dark campaign and was bummed out that Treyarch scrapped campaign entirely.
-
1 ReplyIt's utter dog shit I played 1 game and was so dissapointed I turned it off. I am sure some people will enjoy it tho
-
1 ReplyI've never been a big fan of CoD. Black Ops has always been really good though. I played over 230 hours in Black Ops two, and little to no time in Black Ops three. I enjoyed both. The only reason I'm buying Black Ops four is because all of my friends are getting it.

2 RepliesEdited by DUURJOB: 8/5/2018 10:38:36 PMI’ve been liking it but at the same time it baffles me how certain things are still broken. The bad: Hit detection is fukky as hell. I’ll put a million rounds into a guy, get all the hitmarkers, but his health will not move. I still play MWR and don’t have this problem. What makes this frustrating is that it seems like everyone can down me in 2 hits yet I’ve counted 8 shots on my KN57 and still didn’t get the kill even when I get the drop on them, get more hits than they do, and even get a hitmarker on their damn face but I don’t get the headshot kill. It’s bewildering Another gripe is the killstreaks. It seems too hard to get them and I know I’ll get plenty of “git gud” comments for saying that but seriously, five kills for a UAV? That’s a bit much. It’s been 3 kills for a UAV for the longest time, is this something that I just missed? It feels like there aren’t a lot of killstreaks used in matches and in cod that’s not good. Now cod has bunny hopping like -blam!-ing fortnite and I have no idea why. They seriously need to bring back the original jump system so there’s none of this bunny hopping bullshit. I’m sick of it. All this bunny hopping in games has just been irritating to deal with -blam!-ing cut out the body armor. It’s broken and if you don’t have a gun that has AP rounds as an option. You’re -blam!-ed. Body armor is op and it doesn’t belong The good: I like the guns. They look, feel and sound better than the previous guns. Probably look and feel the best since BO2. The quality of life changes are also nice such as the sliding and ease of climbing barriers. The specialists are better I’d say, they actually feel like separate characters now that they have specific tools with specific things they do. It actually makes selecting a specialist mean something Map design has gotten better. Unlike WWII there are actual power positions rather than just 3 lanes of nonsense.
arent betas supposed to be unfinished “shells”?

kappa
1 ReplyHaven't played it myself, but been watching people stream. Yea it looks like an incredibly generic rip off of about 3 different games. I mean there was absolutely nothing original or nuanced that I saw at all. I thought they added a 3rd studio so that these games would have more time to be better, so why is it they keep getting more and more generic? And it's about 5x as disappointing considering they scrubbed the campaign. I mean that's a third of the game they didn't have to make, and MP still looks this generic?? Not a good sign IMO.
-
1 ReplyNo campaign so I won't be buying it, literally could not care less about the battle royale mode or multiplayer
-
2 Repliesso its not worth 60 bucks? the br might be fun for classic character skins but i am holding the grudge.
-
I haven’t played the beta but as far as the campaign goes I’m ok that it’s fine. I’m not a fan of games that have less depth than a shot glass You’re saying that the gun play it better, well that sounds great because the gunplay in blops was always great I’m probably going to sink a few hundred hours into MP and another few hundred into Zombies and still feel like I get the same experience as I have with the other games
