How do you suppose Activision should pay all the talented developers to make this game they way you want it?

By selling a title for $60 and then calling it a day? That's a very hard ceiling. Video game companies operated under that model for a long time and it almost sunk the entire industry. Look, I get it you don't like all the loot behind a pay wall and yes a lot of it needs to come out from behind the pay wall, but make no mistake, micro-transactions are here to stay. If you want talented people to continue to work on AAA titles, they want to get paid.

  • You mean Bungie. You understand bungie has full control and the contract was leaked over three years ago right? Bungie is the trash here

  • as stated by other, you missed all of the income they get from Destiny franchise merchandise, and how ever you look at eververse it's a crap implemented micro-transaction and the end game is mostly centered on eververse. And i dare to say that there's been single player with more content at release than destiny 2 for similar or higher development costs that was a financial success(*Points toward CD Project Red*). And besides in the old days there wasn't any DIGITAL downloadable option of a game like we have today. Today most games are bought from a digital plattform like steam or as digital codes from a e-commerse site. Physical copies aren't bought as much anymore which we can see when gamestop closed a couple hundreds of their stores since they didn't attract enough customers. What you looked at was the minimum income Destiny 2 brought in and not including the other factors and look at what we gotten so far, TAKE A GOOD LOOK. We got controversy after controversy. Also take a look back at what the devs stated in interviews like my favourite "Destiny 2 will have so much story that the players may complain that there's too much story".

You have zero idea how business works. On top of that 60 dollars for the game? So I guess there was no 100 dollar special edition on top of the 40 dollar season pass or the 20 individual dollar DLCs. Don't even get me started on merchandise. Destiny shirts, toys, puzzles, pop figures, collectibles, they have a -blam!-ing life size gallarhorn for sale at gamestop right now for 160 dollars. So no they are not paying everyone with just the initial game sales.

  • If the micro transactions are needed to fund dlc then what was the season pass for? People say Eververse are funding updates, but we are yet to see one.

    • I'd like to see every game with loot boxes get an AO rating because, let's face it, loot boxes are gambling and minors are not allowed to gamble. Do you think they'd make enough money to stay in business with the drop in revenue that would come with an AO rating vs eliminating gambling in their games?

      • Your argument is invalid. You are defending million dollar companies to actual consumers. This is not a free to play game. This game costs $60 plus money for add-ons. Other games on the market with NO micro transactions have been quite successful without a multiplayer experience Fallout Elder Scrolls The Legend of Zelda Mario Juggernauts in the gaming world. Look up the word greed and post it in here. Activision is worth billions, Bungie is worth millions. This is a triple A title that has a $500 million dollar budget. Please kindly shut up with your defense of millionaires

        • You can try defending shitty micro transactions all you want. Obviously the community is sick of it, and if you think that we're honestly just gonna stand by and take the blatant disregard that Bungie has for it's playerbase, you're part of the problem

            • They made over 50 million in profit from the base game alone, if they need extra funds now then they're in serious trouble. This is one argument for Eververse that I just don't understand. We're three months after the release of one of the biggest selling games of the year, and you think they need the funds? That's a special kind of stupid.

              • To start with, make an actual entertaining game. Don't overhype or deceive the players about what is in it. Said game should be building on the prior game, not be a stripped down shell of it's former self. Everything should still be earnable "in game". Micro Transactions can be used to speed a grind up a bit, but never to hide things a player can't earn behind a paywall. Also the fact it is a AAA title where people have already sunk in $100 or more makes it hard to swallow. If you want to build your game around micro transactions then you need to go to the F2P model. Bungie is just doing it wrong. They expect to be paid for weak, stripped down content and hide more of it behind the paywall for The Dawning...

              • -blam!- off with that bollocks. They make enough without microtransactions. If you dont realise that then youre a dolt.

              • Sell it for $80 then. That's millions upon millions of more dollars. Cut back on marketing. Cut back on executive bonuses. Sell all the DLC's for $5 more. Those solutions took me as long to come up with as they took me to type.

              • I don't think you do get it, honestly, and Activision and other big developers don't get it either. If you make a good game that people want to play, that people will recommend that other people play, you'll make more money than with a shitty game with a shitty microtransaction system that no one recommends to other people.

                • Maybe if they didn't remove random rolls, babbify the class tree, and strip down the weapons system in the first place they wouldn't have to spend so much time 'fixing' it. screw bungie. they had their chance. They should burn.

This is literally one of the top grossing games of 2017. Sure if they don't push people towards gambling they might get less immediate profit and more long term but either way if they just create a cosmetic item store and sell it there they won't go bankrupt. They don't make people gamble because they need more money, they do it because they can and because it will get them all the money. And if they wanted to put out more conternt they would have done so by now too. The game had an enourmous budget. Yet if I look at a game like bloodborne or Horizon (medium sized games), heck even they have way more content. And they manged it without pissing off near everyone and exploiting customers - witchcraft I tell ya! P.S. Witcher 3 by the way is also out there for an easy example...

They should just pay them minimum wage like all of the people whining about Eververse make.
