Please, remove forced PvP from Exotic Quests or Quests that are necessary to unlock content. I do not like PvP on any game. Just not my thing. As a consequence, I missed out on several Exotics and Sparrow Racing all together in Destiny 1. Would love to avoid that exreme aggravation in Destiny 2. Thanks.

No way, the crucible always needs fodder.
Just kidding, there should be a choice. Set amount of either strikes or crucible matches. They're similar in time to complete.
I appreciate "being forced" to play different modes for different rewards. Be it crucible, raids etc. you can always choose not to have that item

18 RepliesThe guns that you get from PVP quests are PVP based guns. You're not going to see anyone rocking the Chaperone in pve. If you don't pvp, why would you want a pvp exotic?

It goes vice versa for PvP players

Edited by JupiterTron: 7/28/2017 8:48:37 PMPeople's rants have made this game become a very watered down version of its once rather cool self. This game is not what it use to be thanks to skill-less players that need to be handed game content with no effort involved.

1 ReplyEdited by TheLegs41: 7/28/2017 6:36:42 PMSparrow racing was barely even pvp. I hated crucible, but I loved SRL. There is no reason you should've "missed out altogether" on it just because you don't like pvp.

I you did the exotic quest for Outbreak prime you would know they already made it so you could do pvp or pve.

2 RepliesEdited by thedandymancan: 7/28/2017 7:25:38 PMI can definitely sympathize man. However, you've gotta acknowledge that in a game featuring both PvE and PvP, there will be players that buy the game for exclusively one or the other. PvP only players could also argue for not requiring PvE for exotic quests, and you'd both be missing the point. The point of having a quest for an exotic is to pose a challenge in obtaining it. This may entail some things players do not enjoy: from scouring the Patrol landscape for rare materials, to participating in Raids, to entering the salt pit that is the Crucible. For example, when I earned The First Curse, I was a primarily PvE player. My crappy internet made Crucible a nightmare of lag for me, and I tended to avoid the headache altogether. BUT, I pressed through, put in the hard work, and nailed those 7 precision kills, nabbing The First Curse in return. It was hard, MAN was it hard (at the time), but I did it. I felt a great sense of pride from slogging through the steps needed, and knew I held a weapon that few had. Whether suffering the frustration of 5 other wackos in a raid, or the nonsense in PvP, exotic quests pose a challenge to conquer. It may require moving out of your comfort zone, and suffering your greatest nightmare. BUT THAT'S THE POINT! Where's the sense of reward if the only obstacles to your triumph lay solely within your preferences? I'm not saying I don't understand where you're coming from, but you've got to look at the bigger picture here.

They have to make it relevant somehow..

4 RepliesThe Chaperone and Thorn in year one were easily my least favourite exotics with PVP steps in them, well that and Invective. Now I don't mind too much grind in PVP if it is something I can gradually work towards, what grinds my gears though is the quests that are adamant about you having to have those MLG skills by taking away progress everytime you die. This is why I never got Chaperone and why Thorn was such a pain in the ass in year one. Granted I heard Thorn is easier in year 3 but I could never be assed to even start it cause PVP always felt like a chore to do. If they have to include PVP steps in D2, at least have the decency to make them manageable for the less skilled of us. By this I mean things like don't make anything take progress away if you die or just make a total count instead of having to get something like 7 headshots in one game like The First Curse quest had. That or just have a separate PVE step for those who don't want to throw themselves into PVP.

1 ReplyI don't mind being forced into PVP for a quest as long as they don't take progress away for deaths/losses/etc. I'm not a great PVPer but I'll slug away at it as long as I can keep pushing forward. Getting dragged backwards, on the other hand... What I want to see and end to is the "Wait for Arms Day" quest steps.

6 RepliesEdited by Hiei Vegeta: 7/28/2017 6:32:26 PMWhat about forced PvE for exotic quests? Ever consider that?
-
sadly you have only two choices when it comes to that. Either suck it up and do the quest or ignore it and do with out. I prefer to ignore it. I see no reason bungie could not create 2 paths to use for the quest one pvp one pve. Not going to happen, but one can hope bungie can get their head out their a$$ and separate PVE and PVP so PVP players don't have to go into PVE if they don't want to and the same goes for PVE. I will not bother with pvp. Any time I was shown a quest I declined it. trying to push people into pvp isn't a good way to make them like it. It just annoys them.

How else will they create it into more of a timesink to hide the pitiful amount of content?
-
I thought they had skill based matchmaking?

1 ReplyToo late for D1. I hope to god for all D2 players this doesn't happen. As 4v4 doesn't allow for unskilled players with objectives in mind to play. Imagine doing 4v4 in D2 where 1 or 2 members of your team need sword kills. You will LOSE every match because they will be 100% focused on sword kills.

I'm a major PVE player and I think that that is a stupid complaint because it needs to be difficult to get exotics so push people into uncomfortable and different places to get them. There are much worse features to complain about and I dunno about anyone else but I actually like those challenges.

2 RepliesPvp has no place in D2 In a world where humanity is being driven to the edge of extinction, why are we wasting resources holding into "training grounds" where guardians can practice against each other. The training may be if sone use if it teaches something useful for combat against the enemies we are fighting but the aliens have different weak spots, different attacks and need different tactics to defeat them. Most of the objective modes are practicing don't teach anything that is useful in pve. About the only thing we could learn from the crucible is from one of Shaxx quotes, "The city will never gain new ground if you can't hold territory". He was right. We couldn't even hold on to the ground we had because the guardians were too busy trading kills in pvp to keep their kds rather than fighting the real enemy In D2 it can't even be argued that it is entertainment, because people who have lost their homes and are starving want to see their side is fighting back not wasting their time in tournaments.

5 RepliesThis is a pvp and pve game. You are buying knowing that fact. Dont whine when theres content you can only get in one of the two categories. Thats how it works.
