Just bought Zelda on Wii U. Find the switch to be a joke. In order to do what they do in the commercials you would have to spend 200-300$ extra on peripherals. Not to mention the fact that their commercials show people playing in situations that are impossible to actually play(4 people in a classroom, 3 on pro controllers with no screen and 1 on the portable screen)...

  • I love video games but when watching those switch commercials, all i see are a bunch of no life gamers....Also i'm done buying a console for 3,4 games (that's pretty much what happened with the wii u for me)

  • Same. Pretty much only played Mario kart and smash bros on my Wii u before Zelda. Have more but only really played those 2

  • You can still bring it to social gatherings. If you don't like it that's cool but I'll get one sometime

  • You bring it to social gatherings if you're under the age of 20. No one is going to bring a Switch to anything serious or formal. It's a gimmick for the younger crowd. Only 15 year olds having sleepovers would actually use that feature. I could see it being useful on lunch break at work but that's about it

  • Ok the point is if you want to have a Switch party you can.

  • Well who the hell is going to do that. I only know 2 people buying one

  • That's what I'm saying about 300$ extra. The console comes with the system, one left and one right controller. A "pro controller" costs 70$, a left or right controller is 50$ a piece or 80$ for a pair. So, to do what they do in a 4 person commercial is 300$ for the system, 240$ extra dollars, minimum, so 3 others can play with you. Seems really expensive for a Wii u with modified controllers...

  • You could tell your friends to bring their own controllers that way you don't have to spend money on extras

  • So Nintendo's business model is "if you have one then you can have a bunch of people play it at your home...... As long as they all own the console as well" which defeats the entire concept.

  • This is really not difficult. If you're friends have the Switch you invite them to play, they bring their stuff and you play. If I'm gonna do an Xbox Lan party with my friends I'm not gonna buy 4 Xboxes, I'm gonna expect each of them to have one.

  • But my point is that Nintendo is marketing it as a social console that doesn't require everyone to own a console like ps4 and Xbox...

  • If you have a lot of players then they'll need their own Switches, there is no way around that. Nintendo did say that 8 switches can be linked together.

  • That has nothing to do with their marketing campaign

  • It was in their demo. Look if you want to play a game with multiple people then you'll need more than one Switch.
