This PvP Meta is the worst it's been in Destiny's entire history, and I REALLY hope this next sandbox update has a few major changes to fix that

So, Bungie released their latest PvP patch and many people that I've talked to and heard from are unhappy about it. Despite some excitement about finally getting change at first, just about everyone whose opinions have been voiced have said that they prefer the old meta to this one, or think there are many improvements needed for this meta to become fun/viable. Stormcaller melee and super barely touched, still strongest class in the game. Skorris should be removed from PvP, not reworked. Take out the unnecessary change to health regen perks (i.e. hungering blade) because that is a very unwanted change by an overwhelming majority of the community. Buff blink a little, as it has only taken hit after hit since year one. Look at lightning grenade/spike grenade cones, and at least make the visual representation of them reflect their damage area if you don't want to nerf them. Not sure why quickdraw needed a nerf, but I don't think that was a great change either. Also, why does storm fist do 160 damage? That is way too much, and it should be brought down more in line with energy drain (132). Shotgun in air accuracy should be fixed, as they were already nerfed and NO ONE wants EVEN MORE RNG coming into play in their crucible experience. SPECIAL AMMO ECONOMY SHOULD BE REVERTED BACK TO PRE 2.5.0.2. If you want people to use their primary, buff primaries so that they are usable in more situations, and less situations will make players feel like they need a special weapon, rather than just making it more difficult and annoying to acquire special ammo. Sidearms, No Land Beyond, Ice Breaker, and Universal Remote are all pushing the power boundary in PvP with the current meta as you can have special ammo when most other special weapons will not. The special change introduced in the last patch just forces you not only to spend half the game reloading your shotgun and looking for ammo but it changes the flow of the maps as everyone is looking for special EVERY MINUTE, rather than every 3 minutes. This not only wastes time for players who want to get the most out of their time in-game but makes many of the maps play at a very sub-par level. Overall, since I am assuming that after this last live event Bungie will be focusing solely on Destiny's sequel, I really want them to get this PvP patch right. Please voice your opinions on this post and comment what changes you think should be made to the current meta to make it more balanced and help revive the fun factor and fast-paced nature of Destiny's core PvP.

  • Id rather they return pulses to their over powered state minus some of the range. Let's autos be stupid strong again, give hand cannons their accuracy and range back, let scouts remain untouched since no one cares about them anyways lol. Vanilla was fun, just go back to that with the mix of other meta times so we can literally use whatever we want. Broken or not people have been saying this might just work for ages and it's never even been considered. Doing this would likely bring back lots of players since they could use anything and im that means anything, lord of wolves have at it. Pocket infinity or vex mythoclast (the vex should be at its pre thorn meta state) let me run up people's ass once more. DoP meta was fun too, you guys focuses too much on your view of "balance" and left fun out of the discussion and now face even more of the dwindling community numbers to continue falling.

          This is why I'm against nerfs, at least as the main solution to balance. They get excessive, and it ruins more than it fixes. It's frustrating how lopsided the buffs and nerfs are. Minuscule buffs that hardly make much of a difference, and nerfs that drastically affect weapons and subclasses, limiting and taking away options rather than creating them. It's frustrating that people don't get it. You can't just take away all of a weapon or subclasse's strengths, and call it "balanced". Balance is when it has both strengths and weaknesses to counterbalance each other. Voidwalker is a perfect example of my point. The Lance perk turns Novabomb into a projectile that launches faster, and now does additional damage, but in exchange, it launches in a straight line, which requires precise aiming, and has a much smaller blast radius, making it difficult to hit your target, especially at a distance. Now [i]that[/i] is balance. That's the same logic we need to apply to everything else. Create a weakness to offset their strengths instead of taking them away.

                • Agreed, they need to remove any rng elements in the crucible. The game can't truly be balanced and competitive until this is done. HoW era was the best time of destiny. Why was that? Rerolling, no bloom, everything was viable. (Yes last word and thorn were op but I'd take that meta where the skill gap was higher). I love destiny, whenever I log in now tho. I jus get disappointed because I remember how good the game use to be. When I died in year 1, the majority of the time it was due to me getting outplayed. Now I feel like because the skill gap is so low, alot of deaths are because their is so much bs and rng in crucible now.

                    I'm tired of this meta already. The primaries are better but I'm already sick of sidearms. I don't want any nerfs though.

                    • I'd rather have everything be broken and have 1 meta of each weapon archetype instead of this slow paced dead non primary skorri farming hardscoping campers grenade spammers Squeaky cry babies who can't get good and actually adapt to the game so instead they whine and complain to the point where the people who were fine w crucible, they ruin it for them and wait till a certain weapon patch fits them and how they may play

                    • I just want to be able to use fusion rifles again. Fusions should get ammo on respawn. When I finally get ammo I get killed and have to start all over again.
