Wonderful post. Read it all. I have to admit, I despise trials. The concept of anything that is dominated by slimy cheating basement dwellers makes me want to scream. And that is exactly what trials has become.
Granted, I'm not that good at crucible. Like you, I worked at improving, and brought my 0.02 KD up to a little under 1.0. In most game modes I can hold my own most of the time.
But in trials, getting slaughtered by people who have literally no-lifed this game just makes it the opposite of fun. Now I understand that trials is for the elite, and I am certainly not an elite crucible player (for which I'm quite happy, to be honest).
I haven't even completed a single match for my year 3 book. I tried. Couldn't win one. Total wipeout every game.
But as you pointed out, the toxicity and pure evil intentions of so many of these so-called "elitists" has turned this part of Destiny into the Bog of Eternal Stench.
And frankly, they can live there all they want.
Well written, Sir, and thank you.

Thanks for reading. I miss your regular contributions to the Podcast with Sols. The entire vibe of Trials has changed. A few responses to this thread have mentioned that Trials is acting as a "weekend firewall" of sorts, keeping the sweats, cheaters, and toxic players out of standard crucible for a good part of the week, I'm starting to see this as a good thing.

I miss the podcast as well. Ah well. They had to cut down on personnel to make it more manageable. And frankly, the forums had reached a level of toxicity that I just couldn't stand it anymore. Even managed to get a couple warnings for insulting Jon Weisnewski. I uninstalled the app from my phone for a while after that. If the guy is so thin-skinned that he can't take honest feedback (I called him a turd) then he has no place running any part of a game development team. But this is my only means of communicating with certain people, so I put the app back on. Unfortunately, for the most part, the forum has not changed one bit. Which is why it's nice to read good posts like yours. Shows there's still some sanity in here. Cheers.
