Trials of Osiris: What would you do?
You're on your 8th game; (you can have mercy still active, its up to how you interpret the given circumstances.) you inspect the roster, as you think to yourself: "Ha! An easy win! Mercury here we come!" then, as you're dropping into the map to begin fighting, you and your teammates receive a Party Chat invitation; on a whim, you all decide to see whats up.
Once there the opposing team asks if you would mind giving them a free win, because they have never been Flawless before and they just lost their Mercy. [b]What do you do? Do you [u]Win[/u], and take the Flawless; or do you [u]Lose[/u], and give them the Flawless?[/b]
EDIT 1: Sorry for the spelling error on lose. Sometimes my tablet's spellcheck can be a little wonky. That or I have a terrible attention to details, like how many times my finger hits the o button...

You should win. but if i were you, i would end up losing anyway.

If it's my light house game with mercy then I might give them the mercy. If it's my first game on the card then I don't mind a quick reset. If I had been playing with my team all weekend and hadn't made it to the house yet due to shananagins or 2.5 KS stacked teams and this looked like our only chance I'd leave it up to a team vote.

Myself and my close friends will sometimes just toss the flawless if it's a carrier or something, we've all all got everything we want from the lighthouse already anyways. But otherwise I wouldn't give it to them. The lighthouse gear and loot was meant for the 1% and rewards those who put in the time to get good enough to get there. I wish it was skill based so every game is hard as -blam!- for everyone so it's in theory as hard to get there for everyone.

Having only gone flawless for the 1st time two days ago, I would say, tell them to earn it the hard way. It will feel a lot more enjoyable earning it properly. it is competitive play for a reason. Just compete, you never know, I have beaten some godlike players and also been beaten by players who I expected to be less skilled. When its their time to go flawless it will just happen for them and they will be overjoyed at how they achieved it together. I have had clan mates and friends match against me in trials and I have told them the same thing. (mind you if we were on a fresh card less than 4 wins and they were on 6 or 7 I might consider giving them a win, but that flawless trip should be hard and something special that is earned.)

If they want to win, they have to earn it. It's as simple as that.

I would tell them they are shit and we are about to destroy you. Then I would let them win but make it a convincing loss. But I'm pretty shit so will probs never get to that point anyway.

When I play trials my team and I have pop up notifications turned off. We wouldn't even have know the other team was trying to contact us. I would fight out the match tooth and nail one round at a time. I've only been flawless 3 times, never paid a penny, and those times I went to Mercury wouldn't have felt as rewarding if I had done what these guys did and beg for handouts.

I would search them and check their grimoire to see if they've been to the lighthouse. If they haven't, then I would get them 4-0 so they think we weren't going to let them win and then wipe until they won.

1 ReplyI have never been flawless. I have had several opportunities to do so but I will not be carried If I can't get to the lighthouse by pure skill than I don't want to go. Recently tho I almost gave up that by trying to be carried but as luck would have it I didn't. So me personally I wouldn't give them the win because it wouldn't really mean anything.

lose, because i already have like 20 flawlesses and couldn't give less a shit about the rewards. and im also getting tired of people trying to get pity from destiny youtubers and streamers by saying "i wish i could go flawless" or "i still haven't gone once haha" because they're so damn desperate to achieve something that is 100% bragging rights and ego.

You absolutely win. Begging for a win is pathetic, and would take away from their flawless "achievement" anyways. It then becomes an asterisk. Earn it and it's meaningful. My team has been in this scenario before. No one second guessed it. We played to win. We won. End of story. That team will get to 8-0 again some day. Hopefully they already have. Hopefully they earned their W or L.

To each there own. I personally have not been flawless. So I would politely let them know, I'm in the same situation and wish them luck. However, if I had been flawless multiple times, I would probably give it to them. But destiny pvp is not all there is to life for me. It's just a video game at the end of the day. My life is no better off by keeping someone from a flawless run. Not to mention, I have had teams jump off the map in trials matches giving us the win. I personally don't think it matters whether you get a gift at 4-0 or 8-0. A gift win is a gift win.

Oh my god this has happened before. But we inspected their characters before they asked and the guy switched off his Doctorine Adept for a Hawksaw. I said. "Yeah sure buddy we'll give you the win." *5-4 victory us* Gets a message. "You guys are lying assholes i hope women learn to swallow their children before giving birth to mistakes like you!" Me: "Its just a game bro lol" Havent been flawless ever since y2 due to probably bad karma.

3 RepliesI would look them up, if they were telling the truth I would probably let them win. If they weren't telling the truth I wouldn't let them win. I've went flawless 40+ times now so letting someone go flawless would be my honor.

If you begged for a win you don't deserve the lighthouse if you fought hard through a card (maybe beat some guys better than you on the way) than you absolutely deserve that flawless loot. A lot of the pve loot is being spoon fed to us at this point, have we reached the point where pvp loot should be spoon fed as well?

Shaxx says it best. "The Crucible is no place for mercy." Nowhere is that more true than in Trials. I choose to win. My team also fought tooth and nail to reach that point. By asking for a free win, you are asking that team to go through that again, with no guarantee of similar success, just so you can go to the Lighthouse easily. That is selfish. Fight like all the rest, and when you fail, get up and try again like all the rest.
