Hello Dizzles. Depending on what the item was in the green engram, it will decode into either Armor Materials or Weapon Parts. You are just unlucky in receiving Weapon Parts from green engrams.
If you need Weapon Parts, you can purchase them from the Gunsmith in the Tower.

It's not that I particularly *NEED* Weapon Parts. I'm just having a hard time believing that I haven't picked up a single green weapon engram since the Dawning dropped.
