How could skiing down steep hills in an open world mountainside ever become boring. Unless you hate mountains and winter sports of course. But then steep obviously ain't your game.

Can't tell if sarcasm or not. I enjoyed SSX Tricky.

Edited by Pink Anarchist: 12/15/2016 11:41:06 PMNo sarcasm. As mentioned in my initial post, back when playing Untracked in SSX (PS2) - I think it's the last track - I wished there was a whole game just with long and open downhill runs. Besides just exploring the mountains, there's 111 challenges in the game by the way (checkpoint races, races which just gives you the finish and you choose your line, trick challenges, wing suit proximity flying or checkpoint races and more). Some of them are quite the challenge and should keep you busy if you want to get gold medals on all or most. There's also a few trick parks on the map, some ramps that allow for long jumps and an abandoned Bob slide you can race on. And if you had a particularly good run, you can make a challenge out of it and share it with people. I didn't play SSX tricky though so I wouldn't know which aspect of that game steep is lacking for you.

It's lacking the fun aspect. Seems like I'm not the only one who feels the same.

Edited by Pink Anarchist: 12/16/2016 2:07:06 AMWhat's the "fun aspect"? Overly excited announcers that scream out your tricks? Flashy on screen notifications and sound effects? I honestly like the "bland" presentation of Steep. The lines on those mountains speak for themselves, I neither need nor want that tacky over the top presentation.
-
Different strokes for different folks. It feels extremely bland with nothing to do. The novelty of going down a tall mountain wears off real quick.
-
There's 111 challenges and you say there's nothing to do? Even if we forget about the paraglide challenges (because they're honestly not the most thrilling), what exactly do people mean if they say there's nothing to do in this game. I don't mind you not liking the game by the way. I'm just curious about the reasons, and "nothing to do" is something I don't quite understand.
-
Putting pointless challenges in the game doesn't count as content. It's like a racing game. A lot of people play in the beginning but Steep gets boring even faster. Racing games have challenges but people still end up leaving rather quickly. It's not like there's nothing to do, it's that there's nothing fun to do.
It's like when you put 500 hours into an RPG and decide you're bored and there's nothing left to do. There's still side quests.
These challenges are the tracks of the game. How are they pointless? Besides, especially the checkpoint races aren't pointless!
-
Holy -blam!- dude. Go look up some reviews for the game and you'll see people saying the same thing. Don't bother defending the shit game anymore. You won't convince me.
-
I read reviews before I bought it (as I always do). It also sits slightly above 70 on metacritic (which while not great is solid, not shit). If you really like winter sports games, do yourself a favour and rent it for a day to try for yourself. Go on hating afterwards if you want to. Or you just repeat what those reviews you read say.

I did play it.
Hated it.
