My Xbox One isn't recognising my external HDD

What the shitting -blam!-, Microsoft? At first, it wouldn't show me the contents: when selected, it simply showed me my Xbox HDD contents. Now there's no indication of it whatsoever, even though the damn thing is physically plugged in and the blue light is on. Apparently this has something to do with instant on mode. Which, ironically, I pretty much never use. -blam!-ing great. Can't play BioShock, Recore, probably not even Rise of Iron. Any ideas?

  • Switch the USB port it's used with?

  • Type in "I C U P". That would be cool.

  • Unplug it (cable from console, and from hdd) and plug it back in. Mine has been doing that for about a week now as well, and unplugging it seems to work just fine. It is quite irritating though.

I'm formatting the thing again. I probably shouldn't, but I don't have much to lose right now. God, I put it in the other slot and now I'm getting the pop up about it. WHY THE -blam!- WOULDN'T THE OTHER ONE WORK? I guess this means I've lost my BioShock Collection progress. Mother-blam!-ing technology is really -blam!-ing me over right now. Good news: BioShock 1 progress is untouched. :D I guess it was on the console. Thank gods, because I'm in Hephaestus.

Select All settings. Select Power. Go to Power mode. Unselect the checkbox next to “When Xbox is off, turn off storage.”

        • All I can think of are these http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/games/troubleshooting/console-doesnt-detect-external-storage and also make sure that the thing even works (test on another device)
