If you know a lot about Destiny lore, you would know that the Fallen aren't really even that evil. They're just trying to get back the Traveler because at one point, long before it came to us, the Traveler came to them. They called it the "Great Machine" and worshipped it like a god. In fact, some people think that the Traveler was so sacred to them they believed spheres to be lucky and modeled their Servitors after it. But when the Darkness came to them, the Traveler abandoned them in their time of need (The Fallen called this "The Whirlwind"), forcing them into their current nomadic, pirating lifestyle. They have been chasing the "Great Machine" ever since, hoping it will protect them from the Darkness. In fact, the ONLY reason they're mad at us is because they believe we are hoarding it and keeping it from them. My idea: in Destiny 2, we make an ALLIANCE with the Fallen. You heard me right, an ALLIANCE. We give the fallen a bunch of Ether AND some of the Traveler's power of light to make FALLEN GUARDIANS in exchange for them helping us fight the TRUE Darkness. In addition to Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks, the Fallen will be the 4th class with all-new subclasses and abilities. So maybe this new social space isn't as far-fetched as some people say.

  • It is also mentioned that the Fallen think we STOLE the traveler from them. This, combined with the importance of hierarchy and Fallen battle tactics are why they are so relentless and brutal towards us. There isn't compromise with the Fallen. If anything, they think we are the real enemy in this universe for "stealing" the traveler.

  •
There isn't compromise with the Fallen.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. Remember that the Fallen houses have fought among themselves for years. Yet, as we see many times in the battles of Six Fronts and Twilight Gap, when the Fallen are shown a goal, they are perfectly capable of banding together to reach it. Yes, the Fallen are relentless and brutal, but they aren't animals. I believe they are perfectly capable of forming an alliance.

  • Wait. I thought that the Fallen were the darkness, well a party of it anyway. I thought all of the "bad guys/aliens" were the darkness in this game. So, are you saying that the darkness is some kind of disembodied force? If so, how are we actually fighting "the darkness" by fighting the aliens? Wouldn't that mean that we were just fighting another species that themselves are trying to fight "the darkness", by getting the traveler back? How could the Fallen be "the darkness", if they're after the traveler in order to repel the darkness from their world?

---------------------------------WARNING: Long answer to a complicated question------------------------ Lorewise, this an interesting and weird topic. It's important to distinguish between agents of the darkness and the darkness itself. Let's break it down. The universe is in an ongoing war between the Light (The Sky) and the Darkness (The Deep). Take this quote from Calcified Fragment VII: Leviathan: ++We live on the edge of a war— —a war between Formless and Form++ ++between the Deep and the Sky— ++MY EYES ARE WIDE, MY GAZE IS LONG++ —Across the universe, as far as I see++ ++the Sky works to charge its fires— —and the Deep drowns the ash++ —Sky builds gentle places, safe for life++ ++Beloved Fundament, refuge of trillions— —The Sky treasures this rich place++ —BUT THE DEEP IS HERE WITH US— ++Cold logic tests our walls— —The Deep claims its dominion++ ++A ruthless, final age — ______________________________________ And this one: ++Existence is the struggle to exist— —When the struggle seems lost++ ++when the safe place crumbles— —everything turns to the Deep to survive++ ++I REJECT THE DEEP CLAIM++ —You will turn back, sweet krill of hope.±± ++You will choose the Sky instead.— __________________________________________ And one more: —Before you lies— ++The worship of death++ —The ruinous path— ++The Sky builds new life++ —Against the onset of ruin— ++Towards a gentle world++ —The Deep embraces death— ++Saying: this is inevitable and right++ —I exist as hungry ruin— ++TURN BACK FROM THE WORLD-KILLING WAY++ ++OR YOU WILL LIVE AS DEATH AND DEVASTATION++ —The Sky is the harder way. But it is kinder.— It's basically like Egyptian mythology: an ongoing battle between Ma'at (order and harmony) and Isfet (violence and chaos). They each have Egyptian gods, monsters, and other "minions" who either work towards harmony or chaos. Sure, some are neutral, but most pick a side. You can't physically kill harmony, nor can you actually destroy chaos. However, that doesn't stop the two forces from fighting for control of the universe. Since the 2 forces can't actually fight one another, as they are really just principals and ideologies, they send the before mentioned "minions" or "agents" to fight for them. And in the Destiny world, that's just what we are. Even the Traveler isn't Light itself. Rather, it is an embodiment of an idea of Light (or harmony, or the Sky, or Ma'at, or whatever you call it.) Oryx? Not pure darkness either. Merely a physical representation of the Deep, or Darkness, or Isfet, or whatever. Even his Worm, though certainly a more powerful one, is nothing but a minion of the Deep. And we Guardians? We're nothing but representations of Light. The game itself even tells us this. It calls enemies "minions of the Darkness." That's not just a weird phrase for "Bad guy." No. They're called that because that's what they actually are. Dinklebot, out.
Reading this post makes me seem smarter than I really am :P
• Seriously man make a new post and make Bungie see this seriously. I'm glad someone is thinking from the readings of the grimoire for a new social space/character.

  • Listen, this is absolutely amazing. You need to make an article about this, a nice big one, and get a lot of people to bump it until it says Moderator Replied. I'm not kidding, make it happen.

  • Originally they were indeed not evil, they are truly twisted though and (acording to the lore) the society that they have engineered is brutal. I did think an alliance with the Fallen could work though (with some of the houses we have been in less open warfare with).

  • I've posted this before, but I do think it will happen eventually. I think Veriks will become Kell of Kells and rebuild house judgment from the remains of the broken houses. He would then seek an alliance with the city in exchange for sharing the great machine.
