Professional race driver, travel the world driving awesome cars in great places getting paid for it...
As it is it's my hobby and it just costs me a small fortune and hundreds of hours of hard work every year!

What do you race and what type of racing??
-
It's a peugeot 205 gti, (early 90's European hot hatch, for those unfamiliar with it!) I run it in a national championship in the UK in sprint race form, 15 min of fun! The link is in car from a stupidly wet race...
-
Oh man that looks like fun as hell, and a little scary!
-
Weird but watching it back scares the hell out of me! At the time you just do it!
-
Yeah, you got awfully close to the car in front of you a few times and I was like oh shit oh shit! I drive mostly rear wheel drive cars and if it was raining like that I don't think I'd even try. As a hobbyist racer it makes me nervous enough to be on the track with my daily driver, if I were to wreck it I'd be extra screwed. One of these days though if I ever get a garage and place to keep one, I'm going to convert my '87 Z to a full time race car.

Camaro right? I love those old American classics, a shelby mustang gt is defo on my lottery list! I'm only running 130 bhp, flywheel @ 7100 rpm, but handling is the thing, did a promotional track day running passenger rides recently and was passing stuff all day with 2-3 times the power. Did however make one girl violently sick in 3 laps! Not nice :-D Put a cage in it if it's only track, but don't forget there designed for you to be wearing a helmet... ever seen death proof!? Get it to go round corners first, then stop on a dime, then power!

Ugh, I hate it when people call their Corvette z06 or Camaro z28s a Z. Nah, I have a real Z, a Datsun/Nissan Z. 300zx single turbo to be specific. Although I do have a Corvette as well which is my current driver. But I have no interest in power whatsoever. After getting my vette with 400hp I found it very boring in comparison to even my old Miata, both on the road and the track. Which is why I decided to restore my old Z. It only has 200hp and weights a little less than 3000lbs. My focus will definitely be on the handling and of course stopping. Will put in twin turbo brakes and yeah, gotta have that roll cage! Only thing that sucks is I don't have abs, but as I'm sure you know with your car, you get used to that. I will go for a bit more power though, stock it has no intercooler so I'll put one of those in and turn up the boost a bit. But nothing crazy. If I can have 200whp maybe, MAYBE 250whp I'll be more than satisfied. There just is no fun in having so much power it makes a car unwieldy. Unless I wanted to get into drifting, but I actually like my cars so that probably won't ever happen. Next major upgrade though will be to put in a rear subframe from a 240sx s13 to replace the crappy trailing arm suspension the car comes with. My welding skills are nonexistent though so that will take me quite a bit of effort.

That's another cool car though! One of my brothers had the fairway on pearl white, just the na six but still went well :-) and a freind had an immaculate 280, thats even better! Always fancied the twin turbo 2.5 supra, 90's model, 'unfortunately' started racing and now my daily is a 200k+ deisel that i get company fuel for, but that cash I save is half my race budget a year! What circuits do you have near you, any good ones?

Yeah, I love Z cars, the older they are the better! I like my generation though, the z31, because it's the red headed step child of the Z family so they are very uncommon and most people don't know what they are. I just like to be unique I guess. The second reason is because it was the first car I bought for myself in highschool, so it's really my first love. I'm sure you probably have similar feelings about your first car, even if it may have been a total pos. I'm pretty lucky though, I live in California so I go to Laguna Seca for my track days. On there other hand it's so damn expensive here, I can hardly afford to do all the things I want to do my cars. Really want a house with a nice garage but that is pretty much a million dollar investment. Where do you visit and what was your first car?

He'll that was a peugeot 305 estate, you'll have to Google that! 60 bhp diesel, no turbo! But belive it or not, it taught me to drive fast round corners, used to pump the rears up to 40psi so it'd 'drift' round bends and you could carry more entry speed without understeering into a tree! Once you got it wound up you didn't lift, lol happy days! Loved the freedom and the girls didn't care as long as they weren't walking! Laguna seca is a circuit I really want to drive, only on gran turismo so far though! that and The Ring, also Spa. But the uk has a few cool places, cadwell is called the mini ring... That's the one the vid was from, got a 9 hour drive on Friday to a stunning place called Anglesey costal circuit, only 300 miles but my old truck struggles on the hills and traffic will be crap too. We run Silverstone, (gp) Oulton Park, (top gear did a feature there with Jackie Stewart, some good tips there if you want to drive faster, look it up on YouTube!) all the other big UK tracks, it's a damn addiction! Once it's got you it's for life!

That's awesome man. I suppose you're living life in the fast lane.
-
Well when I don't smash it to bits or shred the engine, it goes OK!
