People on last-gen consoles have been given until August to upgrade their consoles and port their characters to next gen. If you do not upgrade by August, the progress between platforms will be split, which will likely mean that you will have to start over if you do not upgrade in time. However, the Xbox One-S was recently announced at E3, and will be coming out on the 31st of August. People who are on Xbox 360 consoles won't be able to upgrade to the Xbox One-S if they want to keep their progress in destiny, because the new console comes out after the split is made between last-gen and current-gen consoles. I think it would be fair of bungie to delay the split between the platforms so that people on the Xbox 360 are able to upgrade straight to the Xbox One-S and port their characters, instead of being limited to the normal Xbox One.
