With the recent update, high rof pulse rifles, and high rof auto rifles are the best guns in game right now. If u play crucible competitively u will know that weapons like doctrine and grasp of malok are insane right now. I'm not asking for nerfs as I prefer the time to kill on weapons to be a lot faster. One thing that bothers me is that weapons like these which really don't require skill (talking more about the doctrine) are the best guns to use. Before people come here and say well "I outgun doctrines all the time", I'm gunna stop u and say who were u playing against because a doctrine in a skilled players hand is almost impossible to compete with unless u r using one to.
Hand cannons have been getting messed with more and more with each patch and I agree with a lot of the changes except for the accuracy nerf. Correct me if I'm wrong but hand cannons shots act like a cone when shooting up follow up shots. This is why range is the most important stat on hand cannons because it narrows the cone effect. I believe that this mechanic should be taken out and to make hand cannons as they r intended, give more damage fall off instead of making bullets rng.
I feel that weapon types like this that have high recoil and are semi automatic should be better because the gun requires more skill but to a certain point. Fixing accuracy on hand cannons would be a good start and it would make a lot more hand cannons useful in crucible and pve. At this point right now the top 3 hand cannons are eyasluna, thorn, and hawkmoon ( no particular order). Hawkmoon is on here because when u do land ur head shots, this gun wrecks but because of the hand cannons mechanic, it still has rng bullets even with the range buff it just recieved.
And btw I'm not a scrub in pvp. I'm a top tier player who's been at the top of leaderboards and have been playing since launch. I've seen the game evolve into what it is now and I understand greatly wat the crucible needs.

I agree, my max range eyasluna misses way too many shots at close range when fired maximum fire rate. The same argument is used to justify the Midas time to kill, "I outgunned it with a khvostov once, it can't be overpowered" it is a straw man argument to preserve crutch weapons. The same exact argument was used to defend thorn during house of wolves.

2 RepliesThey need a buff, but LRF auto rifles and pulse rifles also need a buff. Neither can compete with HRF autos and pulses... Scouts are ok...

Appellant III with hidden hand and sure shot IS. Lined up about a dozen times this evening in crucible. Phantom bullets. High Fixer without either perk, rifled barrel, and stability optics, I did fairly well. Only had about 5 phantom shots. Ran a Hakke high impact/low range/ high stability pistol and did very well..had about the same as the fixer with phantom shots. Either way phantom bullets happened.

Edited by BDStrong: 5/9/2016 3:34:08 PMPace yourself they say! Shoot carefully and meticulously they say. Well I say pace yourself while getting buried by DoP or the Hatchet. It makes so much since to have a High RoF HC but CANT UTILIZE THE FIRE RATE because your shots bloom like a magnolia in the spring. Should only have one rate of fire across all HC's then. Pace yourself they say! Shoot carefully they say!

12 Repliestheir fine they way they are. every time there is a buff something is nerfed or nerded harder later to make up for that. look at that 100 rounds they took away from machineguns they gave it to hand cannons
-
9 RepliesYou totally got it. We need more Nerfs.

15 Replies"Best guns in the game" Lmfao I refuse to believe this isn't satire

I agree, but Bungie will never ever do this. Because it's their game and we just play it. I'm really upset with Bungie and how they have treated Hand cannons. They nerf all hand cannons because they didn't want to nerf individual guns. Then they turn around and do it anyways. And keep the rng and range nerf. It was handed very badly in my opinion.

1 ReplyNice post well said article about hand cannons in year 2

Bump i agree

1 ReplyYes please, took me 3 miserable games to get 10 kills with a handcannon for shaxx bounty..honestly I probably would have done it in 1 game had the bullets not disappear on me.
-
2 RepliesI've been using HC since day 1 - favorite type are the 94 impact like First Curse, Polite Denial 0/1, Timurs, Ill Will, etc... but also enjoy some 81 impacts like Fatebringer, Eyasluna, Imago Loop, etc.... If something has had a decent roll I've leveled it up and tried it... I've tried plenty with crappy rolls too. Almost completely quit using them with the 2.0 nerfs but recently getting some decent use out of them again with the updated ammo reserves, getting a new Lord High Fixer (currently on hunter) was cool too. Phantom bullets need to go away, this is a ridiculous handicap to using any weapon type.

Binging tried blowing it off by saying that we just need to learn to pace our shots. I say that they need to learn listen to feedback and not be jerks about it.

Definitely need the accuracy buff. Anyone who says that magic bullets are ok, doesn't use hand cannons.

27 RepliesHand cannons are amazing. I love them exactly as they are

Bump!

1 ReplyRange is perfectly fine. They are the only weapons with the accuracy cone while ads. This is completely unfair as they reward headshots and punish inaccurate rounds. But when there is built inaccuracy while ads it completely defeats the purpose of the weapon. I wish bungie would open their eyes to this.

You got my vote. I have a problem with it becoming the way it is. I got FateBringer back only to see some explosions and not many as I expected.
-
I would like too see a buff to range and accuracy in pve
-
3 RepliesI legit have no problem with eyasluna. Maybe i should try other hc's just to see, but this gun right now dude.... It's pretty insane.
-
14 RepliesNah, I feel like hand cannons can be plenty competitive in the right hands.

16 RepliesWhen the best, top-tier players play in 3v3 tournaments, they all use handcannons (exotic or not) not doctrines or grasps. Exotic handcannons are fine as they are atm and legendary ones are good as long as you have good perks on them. There's no need to buff them if they're already on the top of the food chain.
