I think you're giving those other developers more credit than is earned. Heck, EA/Dice have given precious little information about what comes with their season pass. I just think this expectation of constant updates is absurd. Also, I'm by no means an Activision fan, but I think it's a little unrealistic to expect publishers [i]not[/i] to give out deadlines. Is okay to make the commitment to deliver and then back out?
