Greetings guardians, while I was playing Destiny I was listening to the Promethean Code, and Omnigul Missions music and I noticed I'd heard this music. I actually played it in an orchestra I do as a hobby, and was ecstatic to find that Bungie was taking a "classy" approach to their missions, and because of this, these two missions are now my favorite in Destiny. Here's the name of the song: Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 74, "Pathetique": I. Adagio - Allegro Non Troppo (About halfway through the song where the violins go crazy is the Omnigul encounter.)
Think about it: Sure booming epic music would seem the best fanfare for a raid sized boss, or a strike posed enemy, but wouldn't it be crazy hearing Beethoven's 5th blaring through a strike of ruthless Hive.
It would need balance though. Not too many songs, and not too little.
I have a couple of suggestions Destiny should use in future expansions/missions/strikes/raids.
Requiem: Dies Irae - Tuba Mirum I'd recommend it for a cabal strike or mission.
Hungarian Dances: No. 5 in G Minor I'd highly recommend this for a fight in old Russia withy any enemy.
Suite Bergamasque No. 3, L 75: Claire de Lune

Maybe ghost discovering his home in the Traveler. Cutscene material.
Give me suggestions in the comments for any good classical/baroque music Bungie should use for background music!
EDIT 1: Danse macabre in G minor, Op. 40 This classic would be AWESOME for a tower Halloween commercial showing all the things they do to prepare for Festival of the Lost.
EDIT 2: Non, Regrette Rien by Edith Piaf isn't really classical, but I could totally see it in a commercial of fighting and chaos, which would bring a lot of comic relief, and show some contrast.
EDIT 3: The Rite of Spring: Part One: Adoration of the Earth: The Augurs of Spring - Dance of the Young girls. this would we cool for a cabal themed Charlemange's Vault strike.

The music choice for this is part of the lore. Music was one of the best parts! this is the first game in a long time where I dont shut off the music.

1 ReplyIf it ain't baroque, don't fix it .
-
2 RepliesI'm going to disagree with you here. I enjoy the music choice in destiny. I would like variety, but the fast paced music suits the game well.

Gyorgy Ligeti. But he's not public domain yet.

I can actually play Claire de Lune and Hungarian Rhapsody. (I think that's the name of it; I was confused when I started learning.) They're extremely fun.

I looked all of these up, and I love Claire de lune, if only because of the evil within. But also dies irae.
-
Wow. Someone knows their classical music
-
I would love it if all Rasputins missions played some sort of music like that. As he is a fan of the classics.
