She is not lukes, Jedis don't have relationships like that and Luke knows it.
I haven't read this personally but I am to understand that she is the kid of a friend of lukes who was given a gift from the Jedi temple, and the gift stayed near the child's bed and that's where she became close to the force ( a little shaky theory to me but it's what iv been told)

She could be Luke's, though. The Jedi Order, including the Temple, was destroyed before Luke's time and he wasn't exactly young when he learned it. It wouldn't be weird if he simply learned to use the Force to fight the Empire and didn't get any of the "emotion is bad" doctrine along the way.

By he would have, he has been along on a island that by all we could tell was the first Jedi temple. He is looking through the Jedi order for the answers. He would have gotten everything that the Jedis wanted. Including things that were not practiced in his day.

Maybe he wasn't part of the Jedi order known in the first 3 movies, but he was friends by two of the better Jedis ever, he searched the Galaxy for Jedi temples. He knows the Jedi order as well as anyone
