I'm going to keep this rant as civil as possible. I'm just here to express my concerns for the game mode, not to throw a tantrum.
I'm going to set my points of defense before I continue any further:
• I have been playing since Year One and the launch of trials
• Trials mathematically only allows around 10%-20% of the player-base from accomplishing a flawless run
• Since the beginning of Trials of Osiris, there have been weapons and abilities that triumph others (eg. Thorn, Bladedancer, Pulse rifles, Sunbreaker, etc.)
This post is going to be a complaint about the Lighthouse and the requirements to get there. I have attempted many times to get there, but could not accomplish it. I have the skill for it and the experience for it. So why can't I get there? This is what I'm going to explain.
There are three main variables (two if you are a literal person) that can stop a persons run to the Lighthouse:
1. Your skill
2. Your teammates
3. Skill of your opponents
But I'm not here to talk about myself. I'm here on behalf of everyone who has not reached the promised land yet (especially if you have been fighting from the beginning).
Take in my third point of defense. The reason why I don't give an exact percentage is because of the number of variables there are to calculate, so I do not have the free time to come up with an exact equation, but I have thought it through and realized that is where the number falls. You do not need to be a mathematician to realize this is where the number falls. If you know, the number of players who have completed a raid is at 17% (PlayStation Trophy stats). This stat can carry over to Xbox Live due to the Law of Large Numbers. So it is safe to say that the number of players who have obtained a flawless card is around that range. It could even be less than 10%.
I'm proposing that the flawless requirement should be removed and make it that players only require nine wins regardless the number of loses. You will only get access to the chest if you go flawless. This will:
• Increase the percentage of the player-base to go to the Lighthouse
• Keep players playing even if they get a loss on their card
• But this will still give players incentive to get a flawless card, since they are getting a bonus reward by accessing the chest if a flawless run is accomplished
• Keeping the Lighthouse available for non-flawless players and the chest to only flawless players will separate those that want the grimoire and to explore the place from those that want the rewards
Bump if you agree

People with 9 wins should go to the lighthouse and maybe get some armor. Flawless should warrant a primary weapon and the flawless emblem.

3 RepliesEdited by MysticJon: 11/9/2015 12:28:23 PMTrials of Osiris is a plague on the community. It's just another excuse for players to talk down to one another, as if we needed any more of that. "I went 9-0, I'm better than you, git gud scrub..." Gone are the days when gamers helped each other. Now it's all just trash talk and measuring e-peens. Makes me sad to call myself a gamer at all. No one should ever talk down to another person because they're better than that person at something. Everyone has something they're not good at. Everyone. You shouldn't be insulted for it. It's disgraceful. As for the OP's point, I think it's fine. Just being able to go there, but only get the chest if you got there flawless, I think is perfectly reasonable. I don't see why anyone would realistically say no to this. You don't want players to physically stand in a video game space? Why? What does it matter to you? They're not getting your precious 9-0 items. They're just being allowed to go to the space. I don't see the problem with that.

4 RepliesI just want the grimoire cards filled. I don't even care about the chest or winning.

I have between a .7-.9 kd in trials between all three characters. I mainly play PVE and just recently started playing pvp. My medal score is low at a 390,xxx. My opinion on this issue is with the new matchmaking for trials. The game knows how many wins you have on your card and matches you up accordingly. What it doesn't take into consideration is your KD and whether or not you went flawless. Now I know I'm probably going to get heat because it's supposed to be a "Great" reward for accomplishing a flawless run, but matching up players that are less then casuals in pvp with the Elite players of the pvp world isn't fair at all. Last year trials atleast gave the casual gamer a fighting chance to be matched up with a team in their ball park with stats.

1 ReplyAs a frequent lighthouse visitor, I think that everyone should be able to visit the lighthouse with 9 wins regardless of how many losses.
-
Sorry but nope. 294 light with .90 kd in trials won't cut it. The lighthouse is only for the best....or for those that know how to find someone to carry them to it.

I do not agree

20 RepliesEdited by Chroniclerope: 11/9/2015 2:37:15 PMI will never reach light house because I play as warlock. As for everyone else saying its skill needed, op weapons are not skill. That is like a gun vs spear. You didn't win because you were better, your equipment was. For everyone saying having better equipment is part of the game, it isn't. Otherwise Bungie wouldn't have tried to balance weapons, and the vex would be ruling trials. As it stands, skill doesn't matter with so many op abilities and weapons.

Tl;Dr pls? :D

I played black ops 3 the whole weekend.
Because the lighthouse isn't worth the effort.
1 ReplyNo chest for the 'marked' sounds reasonable to me. The real struggle in Trials is to not find an enemy time with a red bar on it. But loving trials right now, I am getting pretty good drops (318 exotic warlock chest piece FROM A SILVER TEIR PACKAGE!)
-
Lighthouse isn't worth it your not missing much. I went once and said "Well, I wasted my weekend with shit teams for this."
-
I only bother going flawless because I don't have a hard time doing so. Tbh, it's really not as rewarding this time around. If my team only goes 8-1, I won't get upset as I didn't miss out on much. Trust me, lighthouse isn't a big deal.
-
I AGREE
-
Oh I would totally agree if I could go flawless 8 and 0 3 times this week GUESS WHAT. The team I'm with lags out the final game to lag switchers
-
The requirements to reach the lighthouse are not broken. It's the punishment that needs to be increased for people cheating and fcking up people's cards. Trials is a end game PVP activity. If you've never been to the lighthouse, rest assured that when you finally get there it will feel way better than if you were just given access to it via 9 reg wins. There would be no incentive to play Trials if the rules were dumbed down like that. The reward for going flawless is the feeling you, and your team get after beating that last team and seeing all yellow dots on your card
-
No. I'll admit I didn't go flawless this weekend, but I didn't really try. I did the first week and I got shit rewards... Not worth it in my opinion.
-
No participation trophy here. You must win to go to the lighthouse.
-
I went flawless 2x in a row yesterday. We lost 1 match. Relax, not that hard. Teamwork is more important than KD
-
This is stupid. Bungie made it hard for a reason. Just because people get stopped short in their last game or they just don't have the skill to make it doesn't mean the game should be changed for them. This game doesn't revolve around us. Stop trying to make it that way
-
I've never went flawless, but I feel that if you don't go flawless you shouldn't be able to go to the lighthouse. Knowing that I need to go flawless makes me strive to get better. (Although it's a slow and gradual process. .lol) I'd rather earn it through skill and luck. What I don't like is the constant red bar and lagging of my opponents. But as players that is outta our hands.
-
Going by Bungies own numbers? Less than 3% of Destinys claimed player base have accessed the lighthouse...massive failure.
-
I think a change needs to be I'mplamented with a bit more of a chance, cause wen my team gets -blam!- a 2nd as*hole by a group of viscious beasts with bloody teeth, straight from hell... I mean "pro players". anyway point is its no fun wen you get matched with Players that are running upside down on walls with a red dot install kill sniper and neck brakers like something straight out of metalgear solid. Sooo ya know matchmaking need improvement
