  • It shows experience. Not skill. That being said, I have had an easier time in some aspects of the game with an experienced player.

That's like a 40 year old career journeyman in mlb. He has more experience but he's not better than a young mike trout. So no grimoire only means experience not skill.

  • The only reason my grim score is only 3500 is because I only main a Titan. I don't have any warlock or hunter grim.

Experience does not mean good by any means. You can get a high number just by grinding everything for the most part. It doesn't mean that you are good just because you have "x" amount of kills in the Crucible or "x" amount of Raid completions. The amount of deaths you have is just as important as kills. I'd rather play a Crucible game with somebody with 2 kills and 1 death compared to somebody with 25 kills and 27 deaths.

  • It shows incentive. If it's drastically low it's likely the player doesn't know what they're doing. But if it's near max that player clearly has played every aspect of the game numerous times

  • Looking for dead ghosts and hidden chests doesn't give me any experience in how to play so I never really could understand why poeple care about that number anyway

    • It's pretty much a direct relative to hours put into the game which translates to experience which can translate to skill

    • It signifies time played and effort to do tedious tasks (ghosts/fragments/raids). Ones like get kills with guns/play in game types are easy to get and only show the effort to do them not any kind of skill level. I value common sense and general game knowledge over a grimoire score any day.

Ive said this since day one. Grimoire does not determine skill. It determines time played and overall familiarity with most aspects of the game. Just playing all three classes will add about 500 each. The only thing that shows an ounce of skill is the crucible victories. However this is not necessarily true as you can have 100 wins but play 1000 games. You can also get carried or have simple luck with your wins. If anyone bases their skill off of grimoire they are gravely mistaken. If you see someone with <3000 it may be that they play one class, focus on pve or pvp, dont have ghosts and collectables, or maybe just dont have a lot of play time. Sure they could be new but they could also just not care to max out things and have played since day one. For example i have over 4500 grimoire but i have never touched trials. But no one would know that if they just looked at the score only. They also wouldnt know that i only spend about 20% of my time in crucible and the rest is PvE activities.

    • It doesn't but experience is key to improvement. And constant improvement equals more skill

Experience level more so than skill. More often than not though, those go hand in hand.

        • High grim means well versed in all aspects of the game, probably well equipped and can handle themselves in most any PVE could be skilled at PVP or mediocre and just got through it with time and determination. Pretty useless gauge of PVP skill. Mid range grim is a mixed bag, never know what you will get.

        • In pve it's a good barometer ok how experienced someone is with raid mechanics. It's by no means an end all be all but it helps. When I see low scores is when I worry about previous competitions and light levels.
