When I started on Destiny, I hooked it to my 52" plasma and it was beautiful. I continued to play on this tv through all of the stories and raids, etc.
When I started playing PvP I was getting crushed. I got to know the maps and feel of Destiny crucible, but would still get my ass kicked.
Switched to a 24" computer monitor a month or so ago and it made a world of difference. Not saying I'm that good at crucible, but since the switch I've made multiple flawless trials runs and my KD is actually starting to move upwards. Even had to increase my sensitivity to 6-7 on the monitor.
Is there something to this? What do the good PvP'rs play on?
EDIT: Sounds like most agree that the smaller monitor is helpful. If playing on a big screen, you need to enable game mode to make sure the TV isn't trying to output at a higher refresh rate than the game is capable.
PS. I really appreciate all the well thought out posts and great info from all posters. This has been a troll free refuge filled with great people and great info. Keep it up everyone.

I play on a 50" Panasoic plasma-tv with game mode and I tend do to pretty well in crucible. Nonetheless, I have no doubt that I would do even better on a smaller screen with less input lag... in fact I consider buying one just for PVP stuff.
-
I play on a 60" lcd. As long as you have a game mode or something to minimize input lag its fine. On newer tvs you pretty much want to disable all of the extra picture features.
-
The bigger tvs seem to stretch the screen really long, and even if I decrease the screen size in destiny it still looks stretched out.

I play on a 42" screen and do relatively alright. I'm by no means a good PvP player, but I average around 1.3-1.5. I know 22" monitors are about the best experience you can get, but I can't entertain guests by letting them play games or watch movies huddled around my desk. That's just awkward.

Edited by SGT 12XU: 9/3/2015 8:53:34 AMI literally just tried using a monitor for the first time two nights ago. I went from a 60" plasma to a 24" monitor (actually an MSI all in one gaming PC). I also switched from WiFi to a direct ethernet connection at the same time. Conclusion: K/D on previous setup was .92 or so. K/D on new setup was 1.3 or so. It seemed to help me see things better and the input lag was much better. Before, I always died in a shotgun duel. Now, we both die or I win sometimes. Timing is better now.

If you started off playing on a moniter well and then switched to tv and started performing worse I would see your point more. But that fact that's it the other way around could just mean you are getting Better.

2 RepliesIs it really noticeable? I do ok in PVP playing on an 80". It's just more comfortable playing on the couch though.

1 ReplyA computer monitor is the way to go. People who buy big tvs to play games, but then for bragging rights and not to actually be good

1 ReplyEdited by sergantsnipes05: 9/3/2015 5:26:06 AMDepends on your tv. Response time under 50ms and you won't notice. My monitor has a 5ms response time. My tv has a 48ms Put it on gaming mode and it will probably feel better

2 RepliesI play on a 92 inch samsung lmaooo

11 RepliesGot that 120HZ refresh rate on my Samsung 55", no problems.

I play on a 42"

It's not really the refresh rate, but all those gimmicks to optimize the picture. My friend has a sony bravia something and Destiny looks so crisp, vibrant colors, it's like he has a Playstation 5 :-D But this comes at the cost of input lag, it easily reaches 50-80ms on those screens, sometimes even more. Monitors are under 10ms, even the non-gaming variants. I recently switched to a BenQ 27" gaming monitor because of this... my pvp game isn't that good, but every little bit helps :-D

I've switched between my main (50 somethin) TV and my smaller (32") quite a lot, and playing on the smaller one definitely helps my PVP performance. But, it kills the PVE experience/vibe for me. It's a worthy trade off considering I only play PVP for Iron Banner and the occasional trials.

I consider myself above average (what do you think?) and I play on a 40something" tv.

Im playing on 42" LED and it feels good
-
Definitely better on a smaller tv, your eyes have to move less! I played on my 50" the other week for trials. It didn't go well at all...
-
Played cod once on an 80", was insane and really hard to check my surroundings. Hurt my eyes too, so much detail and color
-
I remember switching from a tiny 15 inch screen to a 30 something in my call of duty days, no player was safe from my eagle eye.
-
52"? I play on a 55" it's huge I kinda sit further away from it my problem is that I at almost without any game sound, so I have a hard time hearing wtf is going on I've been playing with a little more sound and I have a new headset, so it's been getting easier for me

I was SO bad when I upgraded TV's. My 48inch was just...idk.... But the smaller TV I had before it felt easier to get kills.
-
I play on a 106" projector screen. I do right but it is kinda hard to focus on the whole screen
-
Yeah highest I go is 47. Gaming on my 70 was a no go.
-
Maybe you just got better at pvp
