When I started on Destiny, I hooked it to my 52" plasma and it was beautiful. I continued to play on this tv through all of the stories and raids, etc.
When I started playing PvP I was getting crushed. I got to know the maps and feel of Destiny crucible, but would still get my ass kicked.
Switched to a 24" computer monitor a month or so ago and it made a world of difference. Not saying I'm that good at crucible, but since the switch I've made multiple flawless trials runs and my KD is actually starting to move upwards. Even had to increase my sensitivity to 6-7 on the monitor.
Is there something to this? What do the good PvP'rs play on?
EDIT: Sounds like most agree that the smaller monitor is helpful. If playing on a big screen, you need to enable game mode to make sure the TV isn't trying to output at a higher refresh rate than the game is capable.
PS. I really appreciate all the well thought out posts and great info from all posters. This has been a troll free refuge filled with great people and great info. Keep it up everyone.

Not really good, but play on Sony 65 4k. Love the size. You see so much much more. I sit about 15 feet away. Crucible I am slowly getting better. On larger TV you must have it on game mode. If you have it on upconvert it will slow you game play down, but the picture is amazing.

1 ReplyBenQ monitors bro.

1 ReplyI play on a 14ft projector (thank you Victorian house builders 😁) and have managed to keep a positive ratio, which is all that really matters to me. It's deffo much easier on a smaller screen but it's so much more immersive when it's life size. I wouldn't advise it if you had epilepsy tho ha

4 RepliesI'm terrible already on a 37 inch, next week our new 55 inch arrives. If this thread is anything to go by I may as well just forget ever trying to be half decent at PVP.
-
40 inch and I'm top 3%
-
I game on a 60" and I do just fine.
-
50-something inch and I'm pretty gud
-
I'm top 2% kd according to destiny tracker, and i have a 51 inch tv
-
I play on a 42'' and usually end up on the top half of the leaderboard
-
I would say I'm good. 47" here.
-
Started out on a 65" ... glorious but got my butt kicked every match. Had to get a new TV so got a 55" and my game improved A LOT. I'm thinking it's because you can capture your radar and hud easier in your peripheral vision rather than taking your eyes off the action. My young bloke plays on a 32" and says it's way easier to play on.
-
Yeah, just takes time getting used to.
-
Depends on the input lag
-
I play on a 34 inch tv. I'm just thinking it's about input lag which is worse on larger tvs
-
I play on a 42" LED tv and do great.
-
24"-32" is what I see most players use.
-
Use a smaller screen. Always
-
I play on a 56 inch & i almost exclusively play pvp
-
I play on a huge ass tv
-
I play on a 60ish inch and do just fine
-
-
Makes no difference to me, I have a 32" and a 60" next to each other (so me and the wife can sit on the couch and shoot faces in the crucible together) and I notice nothing switching from one to the other. I have those awesome games, and then I have those wtf games all the same lol
-
32" and i sit up close. I do fine
-
Smaller tv screens are better cause you get an advantage of looking at everything on your Rader. I don't know why anyone would play on a 52 or a 55 inch tv screen. wouldn't it hurt your eyes? Strain your eyes? Having a smaller monitor is good. It helps you manage to look at everyone on the maps.

some plasma displays can have hella input latency. (I know my Pioneer 60" panel does, which is a huge disadvantage in PvP and contributes to my super average k/d, and it's also super bad in Guitar Hero :/ ). you might be able to check your tv here for stats: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag

I played on a 50" forever and was okay... I just got a new 65" UHD TV and it took some time, but I got my skills back. I'm doing better now than before. I think it doesn't really matter unless you're extremely competitive, you can adapt to almost anything.
