Plain and simple Bungie. Just tell us what really happened.
EDIT: Since my comment is going to be drowned out by the other people excited that DeeJ made an appearence, Here is my response.
"I appreciate the response DeeJ, I really do. I just need a little bit better response than that. How did he glitch? What caused him to glitch in the first place? Xur has been up and running for almost a year and has not had a problem until today. Vague post is vague"

Wow this is old

1363 RepliesXur was glitched this week. He showed up without a weapon. We looked into fixing it, but meddling with the live server would have created problems. He'll be back next week. With a weapon, this time.

The picture was obviously photoshopped

You guys are retarted. The pics from that guy were already proven photoshopped in another thread lol

There are many explanations for such glitches. Most involve conflicts in coding some of which may have a path way set to remove the item instead of creating a conflict that may result in a game crash. This could be a differences in variables due to updates to coding in other sections or in conflicts with conditionals. An example would be the item chosen must be a number between 1 and 10 with additional conditions of must be >5 or less than or equal to 5. If the coding is not perfect then it is possible for it to read the number 5 as both an acceptable and unacceptable value at the same time. As such it will neither re choose nor use the value. These could occur wherever a limiter was in place such as the exclusives or removed inventory options. So yes this could be from when Bungie said ghorn was removed from the inventory or an exclusive that is currently restricted from sale, or even a brand new exotic space in his inventory from new content that is not fully implemented. But the odds of Bungie maliciously removing a weapon are nil.

Big post incoming It could have just been that they were last minute testing adding items to Xur's inventory but it was too close to the time that xur comes to the tower so one of the not -released-yet items took the place of the missing weapon, just for that one week, and if Bungie tried to remove those items last minute, it would have caused further problems such as there being holes in Xur's inventory from missing exotics, increasing the chances of Xur not selling some items for future weeks. What I'm ultimately trying to say is, that it was safer for Bungie to wait until Xur was gone to repair his stock (which is what they actually did and are doing now), so they could look at and delete any and all the new exotics that they were testing with. Even if this isn't the case, and it just like Bungie vaguely answers with DeeJ "Xur was glitched this week for some 'unknown' reason", Bungie should still answer more clearly than that. Hell, even if they aren't allowed to talk about the cause of the glitch because the exotica it will be revealed in TTK or something they could just answer "Hey guys we really don't know what is going on with Xur this week, but we are close to fixing the bug so that it will never happen again." Actually they should eventually know the cause if they can fix the bug, so saying that the bug is fixed without knowing the cause is complete bullcrap. If they don't tell us what is going on by the time they fix the bug, then something fishy is going on. Also, because of posts like this, they have no reason to not tell us the reason for this glitch, unless they either don't care, or it is in fact TBR information, and stuff like vaguely answering your entire community but the Bungie staff is what gives rise to forum posts and topics like this. Just don't hate Bungie or DeeJ for that matter. There really is no reason to, because apparently nobody knows the answer to this glitch. Everybody makes mistakes, and machines are only as good as humans. Also, I'm not blaming anyone, I'm just trying to calm down the angry fans by giving them two things: a reasonable explanation of what happened, and a guarantee that Bungie will eventually tell us what actually happened to Xur last weekend.
Or maybe Gjallarhorn wasn't in Xur's stock and Bungie wanted to last minute sell it but again, it was too close to the time Xur came to the tower so Gjallarhorn was replaced with a blank spot.
He never had ghorn its called Photoshop

2 RepliesFact that it was a heavy week and there wasn't a weapon for the first time in how many weeks? All you cry babies hating on the op need to reevaluate you're lives.. He has a good point you idiots are just to stupid to see bungie just -blam!-ed you again ..
-
There is no proof. And to be honest, I don't care if there was no weapon, even if it was gally. Xur will return next Friday, and probably have a weapon you already own or don't care to own. Then you will move on to the next Friday and so on. Why can't people just play and have fun instead of complaining about everything. Why so serious anyways? You will not get anywhere playing this game.
-
Where is your Proof Gally was removed? Oh that's right you don't have any. Bungie already gave their explanation. Move on.
-
Obviously the Nine knows we were helping the Queen exterminate her high-value prisoners and decided as punishment that we'd get no weapon this week.

6 RepliesThey removed ghorn from xurs sell list ages ago, your mad that he didn't sell it? Seriously? I just ran someone through crota hard he pulled it. Instead of bitching xur didn't sell it, try doing some work and try to pull it. Seriously, the thing sucks anyways with its hidden proxy det, my death to kill ratio increased drastically since I started using mine. All it takes is one tiny little thrall to stand so very close to you and your done. If they should have nerf ed anything about that rocket it should have been proxy det. So -blam!-ing annoying.

7 RepliesEdited by AdorkableMia: 7/21/2015 5:20:45 PMFirst of all he never sold a Gjallahorn (this week) in fact he didn't sell a weapon if bungie really did want Xür to not sell it (it's still on his loot table so he can sell it) they would remove it from his loot table plain and simple it's like when xûr never sold heavy ammo or engrams for a while
-
can't wait to see him sell disspointment again this friday.
-
2 RepliesIt's not a vague post. Xur's algorithm for selecting items is different than the rest of Destiny's random number generated system. He glitched out. It's a program, it happens. But you can't fix a glitched program inside a live server without corrupting the entire system. So, one, you shut the servers down and fix him (may be down for hours) or two, you find the problem and fix him on the backside of the program for future encounters.

4 RepliesThey put this in as an apology.
How did he glitch? What caused him to glitch in the first place? Xur has been up and running for almost a year and has not had a problem until today. Vague post is vague"
It's a glitch. They can happen at at anytime. And just because some had been running smoothly for a long time it won't ever make a mistake. Move on.
-
1 ReplyHow about the glitch occurred when they were testing addingstuff to Xur's inventory forever not removing items for a short time
-
7 RepliesNext week he should have two weapons Sign if you agree
-
2 RepliesXur: What weapon should I bring the Guardians this week? The Nine: No weapon... Xur: Bu- The Nine: No balls.
Yep.
-
You seriously must know by now that Bungie does not care if Xur sells it. It's not like they're an endangered species, lol
-
They better hope he actually does show up with a weapon next week! Cause if not what are they going to do?
-
All morons. No weapon.
-
They say it was a glitch, but I don't believe them
