I recently got a hopscotch pilgrim and have leveled it up with a great perk roll(it's on my hunter). Before I got it, I was running with and Allfate with a similar role.
I thought I would be really in love with the pilgrim but I'm finding that I preferred the Allfate. I know that stat wise , the pilgrim is a better gun but I just seemed to perform better with the allfate. Don't get me wrong, the pilgrim is great. I just seem to do better with the Allfate.
I'm curious. Has this happened to anybody else? Not necessarily with just these two guns but have any of you gotten what is considered a superior weapon and found yourself preferring the "inferior" weapon?

3 RepliesEdited by SPITRAT: 7/16/2015 8:25:01 PMCouldn't agree more. I don't have the Hopscotch but I level a Spare Change and it just shoots too slow for my liking. That is why I don't use my Red Death either. 55A-Allfate has the perfect balance of ROF and Impact. I have Third Eye, Hand Laid Stock, and Headseeker. I just made a post about this about an hour ago that just vanished into the abyss of "Nerf the Thorn/True Destiny Vets/My Grimore is amazing" BS posts. Love the Allfate.

2 RepliesCan the stability on Hopscotch be maxed like Allfate?
-
2 RepliesI have an Evergreen 11.1 that is amazing compared to all other pulses I've tried going back to day 1 Wish I could ascend it
-
I've used both and honestly I like the Allfate better.
-
Allfate is what i use mostly
no hopscotch yet
But start liking the fwc one, because faster reload, more range, faster shooting.. Only impact little lower
-
Slower fire rates are for those who value accuracy. Higher firerates are better for close range and aggressive players.
-
Same actually,I thought HP was going to be a replacement for my 3LW. Alas it wasn't the case, reactive reload and better ROF seals the deal for me.

2 RepliesI can't give an opinion on HP, but I have a really nice 55a-Allfate. It's an amazing pulse rifle if you can get headshots. I was tired yesterday and couldn't function in crucible and started to get wrecked. 1st: I've got outlaw/hand laid stock/ head seeker. 2nd: I have Rodeo/hand laid stock/glass half full. I compared both and prefer the 1st roll.

1 ReplyEdited by JTtheLoneWOOF: 7/16/2015 6:00:42 PMDude. Hopscotch is all about the HYPE TRAIN... It is way overrated in my humble opinion. ALLFATE is so much better because it's more responsive. The thing with Hopscotch, The Messenger, or Spare Change for that matter is the rate of fire. That's right it's the Rate of Fire that corresponds with the play style of certain players. ALLFATE, SKORRIS, Bad Juju, strangers rifle all have a fairly high rate of fire which is better suited for more offensive players. It's for people like me that tend to be eager for the kill. On the other hand, if you like to play defensively than one might absolutely love Hopscotch. ALLFATE pretty much meets right in the middle, and this is why you and I probably feels that it's perfect. I leveled up Hopscotch with great perks. It's not for me. Id much rather use my ALLFATE or SKORRIS.

It's situational neither is good in all maps across the board or in all game types or a persons play style. In larger or more open maps like Widow's Court, Rusted Lands or Shores of Time, I find Hopscotch more effective. In tighter more confined maps like Asylum, Thieve's Den or The Cauldron I like Allfate more there. Also if you're more aggressive and like to get closer to enemies you naturally want a faster firing weapon so the Allfate will suit you better. But if you're more conservative and like to pick your spots Hopscotch will serve you better. It depends on what you're doing and what type of player you are. If you don't adjust your loadout to suit either it doesn't matter what gun you use, you will get massacred.

2 RepliesWhere do you get the pilgrim?? Is it a faction weapon?
-
2 RepliesI don't see either of your pulse rifles equipped though

2 RepliesEdited by m00ninite: 7/16/2015 6:24:41 PMAll depends on your play style. If you're a Red Death type player and actually fire your pulse rifles at their max ROF then Allfate is killer. People like me though (generally hand cannon users) tend to prefer to be at a little more range, and almost always take a slight pause between shots. For that style, higher impact will yield better results so I prefer the Pilgrim. This is the case with many weapons across Destiny (refer to WoC vs Fatebringer). IF you take advantage of max ROF's on lower impact weapons they can be great, but the slower you choose to fire them, the more you're wasting its potential.

I prefer the All-Fate also.

4 RepliesThis seems like bungie trying to artificially hype crappy guns to try and keep peoples interest in the game. Those guns are completely inferior to thorn, last word, vex, red death and many non exotic weapons. It's on par with the oversoul edict. Please let it go.

1 ReplyPilgram is beastly with hand laid stock and headseeker it's a monster.
-
1 ReplyThey're the same if you factor in the RoF difference. Want a higher RoF with slightly less dmg = Allfate Want a lower RoF with slightly higher dmg = HP
-
You're terrible

4 RepliesImo hopscotch pilgrim is better. I love the 2 burst kills. I'm gonna grind strikes this afternoon for it

1 ReplyEdited by SmilingPhases: 7/16/2015 5:54:20 PMIts not always about the stats man Its about how it feeeeels Liking my spare change with counterbalance and the extra range.

1 ReplyWondering if I should bother getting Allfate if I have VoG pulse rifle?
-
Roll the AllFate with: Outlaw Increased stability/reduced range Reactive reload Two shot kills

I like the Pilgrim a lot, I haven't given Allfate a fair chance though. Mostly out of spite because that's the only thing I get from night fall these days. XD I've been using pilgrim on combined arms this week, and it's been really good to me! I think I had it equipped when I got my Mark of the Unbroken also. The range continues to surprise me, and the consistent 2 bursts without even having head seeker unlocked yet has been really fun. Plus it lets me use P&T again(Allfate does too I suppose..), which I really miss doing. Someone mentioned offensive vs defensive, and that makes a lot of sense, as I play defensive way more often than not.
-
I love Allfate's Red Death-style RoF, very fun and comfortable to run around with. The sheer precision of Hopscotch is hard to beat though. I could see people preferring either!
-
Seems like your play style just fits a faster-firing pulse better, nothing wrong with that. I love my pilgrim but the Allfate can be especially good with Reactive and outlaw/feeding. I like non-exotic handcannons in crucible and those tend to inferior by many accounts. Its all about the feels lol
