News flash:
Bungie WANTS to attract new players. They have you already. You got to enjoy and do things those new players will never get to experience.
Your reward for buying the game early is getting to play it early.

Bump. Everyone complaining about Destiny's newest expansion price needs to read this.
-
You're exactly right, it's just a shame others struggle to comprehend the fact that bungie are a business, they and Activision are here to make money, and lots of it. The same sort of thing applies to sky, virgin, and every other company on the planet that provide a service, they throw freebies at people to get them to sign up, bungie are no different. To those complaining about the price of this new edition, of course it's going to be cheaper, the game will be close to a year old, how do so many people choose to ignore the fact the things get cheaper as they get older? Personally I'm glad I paid the extra to get the game on launch day, I've experienced so much that newbies will never get to experience. 1. The extreme grind (materials from chests etc) 2. Experiencing the vault of glass when it was actually a challenge. 3. That sense of achievement the day I hit level 30 4. Pushing Atheon and the templar to their deaths :-D 5. Seeing that vex mythoclast drop (when it was the most wanted weapon in the game) The above are just a few reasons why I'm glad I didn't wait to buy the game and the original £65 I paid for the full game and the 2 expansions was without a doubt the best £65 I've ever spent on a game. I too think at times that content is lacking but I have to keep asking myself if I'd be saying the same thing had I only put in a third of the hours I actually have? I've seen so many games over the last few years that I've completed in 6-8 hours but I still paid £40+ and was happy to do so, how could I possibly complain about spending £100 on a game that I've played for 1000 hours? People should really stop and think before posting, ask yourselves what it is that makes a game worth the money and what you actually want from that game? Destiny is far from perfect but your here and your probably still playing so instead of all the complaining, why not just play?

Edited by Dalek Trekkie: 6/17/2015 1:29:06 AMOh we comprehend it, and also realize that it's completely unethical. It's only tolerated because people, such as yourself, have been conditioned to think that there's no way around it and such is a fact of life. You and your kind forget that silence and accepting what you believe to be the inevitable is the best way for these companies to get away with whatever they want. I see bullshit and I call bullshit. Is it wrong or stupid for me to do so? Ignorance claims yes
-
Agreed.
-
What? So people shouldn't get paid for their work? Technically that would be slavery and that is truly unethical.
-
So you think that just because they would make slightly less money than they stand to make at the moment would leave some employees without pay? I'm sorry but you're dead wrong there. Even if sell a quarter of the copies of the Collector's Edition that they think they will, they will still stand to lose nothing and will still make a profit large enough to pay everyone rather well.
-
Unethical?
-
Misleading customers into thinking that your product or service contains more than it actually does is generally considered unethical everywhere except in the gaming industry
-
I just don't see why it's unethical? It's simply the way the world works, bungie and Activision are no different to any other corporate company. What matters to me though is that no other game has provided me with so much entertainment, in fact I think it would be safe to say that nothing I've ever purchased for £100 has provided me with 1000 hours of entertainment and I doubt anything else will. While I agree that £40 is high for a DLC pack, I'm just simply looking at how many hours I'm likely to get for that £40?
-
That is the exact attitude that is allowing it to work. It wouldn't work if we treated the gaming industry like we do every other business out there. We tolerate what would be considered unethical everywhere else because "its just a game" or just because "that's the way this works." That's not how this works, that's how we've been conditioned to think it works.
-
Did destiny provide everyone with the same amount of hours though? How many of those hours were spent redoing the same things?
-
How many times do people play the same map over and over again in COD? What's the difference if you enjoy playing it? I don't hear people complaining that pac man didn't have enough content so why does it matter as long as your enjoying it? I see so many games with less content than destiny but they get a pass for some reason, why? I also see games that do have 10 times as much content but aren't in the same league when it comes to gunplay, what would you rather have?
-
Games with a true multiplayer obviously get a pass.
-
I guess I'll just have to put it down to the fact that that everyone expects completely different things. I love co-op games so this is probably why destiny works for me.
-
I hear ya man. I just don't like the ploy with exclusive gear they are doing. It feels like a shady way to get us (the active players) to buy the collectors edition despite having most of the content already
-
Bump.

-
Oh my goodness, Thank You!!! Why does this seem to be such a hard concept to grasp for so many idiotic people?
-
I didn't buy the game early. I bought it on time. I paid and I played. Now we get shafted for more money or less content. Either way we're screwed and we stuck it out through their entire beta test. It's a -blam!-ing joke. They don't give a shit. I just watched deej in an interview and he knew less than the guy questioning him. It's all about this current expansion. Vault space was glossed over. Ever evolving. Pfft.
-
Whys this so difficult for everyone to understand... You're right. People need to stop whining.
-
If everyone took the stance of "no whining" then nothing would ever get done and nothing would ever improve. I'm just simply stating my opinion and am asking if anyone agrees. I see how someone who doesn't like change would think that this is whining, but I assure you that this is not the intention of this post
-
I'm actually 22, but close guess. I don't really understand what you mean by getting to experience things that they never did. What experiences are you talking about? And cheesing Atheon doesn't count, as I didn't really do that at all. I'm not talking about the "experience" I had with the game. I'm talking about pure physical value here.
-
If you are playing games for physical value this shouldn't be your hobby or choice of fun. You got to experience the game before auto rifles got destroyed. You got to do queens wrath way back, remember when heavy dropped from an enemy in crucible after you killed them? That is what you paid for an experience to remember. Video games and a form of entertainment not a way to make money.
-
I'm not focusing on the virtual side of things right now, as that's a completely different forum post all together. I unfortunately have to focus on it from a money and physical standpoint, because Bungie/Activision has made it pretty clear that they only see this as a way to make money. If you don't believe me, then ask yourself this. Why would a group of people who only wanted to use a form of entertainment to give people these experiences allow what was obviously a half-baked game to go out to consumers at full price? Unless Bungie now consists of a bunch of mentally handicapped, old men there is no way in hell they'd allow that to happen. Unless they were in it for the money. They saw an opportunity to make an assload of money with just enough effort to make it look like they misjudged what we would accept and took it. Sad thing is that we all fell for it.
-
I know they are all about money when I heard the partnered with Activision I knew that's all it would be about
