I wanted to bring your attention to an issue I have hen I use Ruin Wings with my Thunderlord.
I am level 31 and Ruin Wings are completely leveled up
My very clear impression is that I get what feels like "normal" rates of ammo drops whenever I have Thunderlord equipped. This isn't and exaggeration, it is very clear, I will only get 1 or maybe 2 heavy drops in a ROC strike. But when I switch out Thunderlord for a typical Legendary heavy weapon it "rains purple", it's again a stark difference Of note, I'm level 31. I did notice that when I took off some armor to drop my Light to 30, that the drops were a bit less than when I was 31.
I think there are three possibilities, one is that Ruin Wings was ninja nerfed to not work as well with Thunderlord, or it's possible that seeds of ruin scales with level and that you need to be level 32 to get the benefit, or it's possible that Ruins Wings are glitched
Let me close by saying that it is very very clear to me that Seeds of Ruin does not work on my Titan when I have Thunderlord equipped, but it works amazingly well when I have a purple Legendary Equipped...

2 RepliesI noticed when were first available I got from xur first chance, never ran out of rockets, or if did, was max 5 kills before I could rain more ruin... Now they only seem to boost ammo per crate, which my legendary sniper with surplus already does....

1 ReplyEdited by arcadecrash: 5/10/2015 12:43:57 PMRuin is and has been glitched and they should fix. Maybe there is a perk conflict type glitch with Thunderlord and Ruin. Have you tried adjusting the gun's perks?

Reading the posts below, I imagine that it's possible that because I'm equipping a better primary (red death) when I DON'T have Thunderlord equipped, that I'm getting more kills, and thus increasing the chance of Heavy Drops within the window of the timer. This would make sense because presently I am leveling up Three Little Words, and I'm only halfway there, so my primary damage is down significantly with that gun. On ROCs I can chain kill all day with Red Death, so it makes sense that I would get a ton more kills within the "heavy ammo drop window" when using that. In addition, I kinda suck at using Thunderlord right now, and when I'm running around using it, most of my teammates get the kills... I'm starting to think now that the low rate of Heavy Drops when I use Thunderlord is mainly due to my compromised load out and low kill rate when it's equipped. This would also explain why the "ruin wings glitch" manifests inconsistently among players. I suspect strong players never see it while weaker/poorly geared players see it often. This would also explain why one of the posters noted that he gets tons of heavy drops when he uses Gally...you will always get tons of kills with Gally... Bottom line....I don't think it's glitched anymore, now that I know that Heavy Ammo is on a "timer window" and that you need to get a kill within the window to get Heavy Ammo to drop, I'm convinced that it's an issue of load out and skill, not a bug

Might be the fact exotics are better and they want ammo regulated? No clue, this might belong in help though

1 ReplyI'll try taking them off and putting them back on

I agree with this. I am using synthesis after synthesis. I wanted to level up TL with titan just for ruin wings. And nothing.
-
Ruin wings are broken. Bungie needs to take a look at these. I shouldn't have to use an ammo synthesis when wearing an exotic that is supposed to grant me more heavy ammo.
-
Sometimes it doesn't work and I just swap to my legendary gauntlets then straight back to my ruin wings and it usually fixes it.
-
Ruin wings only increase the drop rate and ammo pickup by 50%, though I run ruin and I get enough heavy ammo to support world war 3. Maxing it seems to have a better chance
-
I'm curious if this is just an issue with Thunderlord, or if it happens with other exotics as well... For me, it just Thunderlord, any legendary machine gun works fine...

4 RepliesRuin Wings gives me about 15 boxes all at once and i will never see them again for the rest of a strike, which is how heavy ammo normally drops for me without them. the only benefit i get from Ruin Wings is that i get more ammo with each pickup. other than that heavy doesn't drop more frequently.

2 RepliesThe ruined wings are bugged. You have to take them off, and put them back again. I know it's annoying when at one strike it's purple rain, and then later it's a dry spell. Switching gauntlets and putting ruined wings back on usually works.

Try lowering your primary ammo a little before u go into the next room I empty 20 shots from fatebringer before I go in with my thunderlord I believe that your current ammo count still effects your heavy drop rate not sure how much but its obvious it effects it

Huh, I seem to experience the same thing. I'm glad to see this is not just happening to me. I'm a 32, fully leveled ruined wings and thunderlord. I almost always wear ruin wings and usually thunderlord, and it's no different on heavy ammo drops than when my Hunter or Warlock have their thunderlords equipped. But when I switch to gjallahorn, I'll get tons of packs. Wonder what's happening.

5 RepliesThey work perfectly fine with the thunderlord for me. Maybe your ruin wings are ruined.
