Maybe it's just me, but it seems like I get stuck in infinite loops in matchmaking. First, it drops me into a game where my team is already getting spanked. Then because we got plastered, it disbands the room. So naturally, matchmaking plops me right back in another losing game. Pretty sure I've done this five times in a row now.
It's kinda hard to cash in medallions this way.
Surely they could add some sort of filter that prevents players from repeatedly entering stale games. Or is this really just all my bad luck?
EDIT: thanks for the replies guys.
One clarification - this is mostly a problem with making it more frustrating and less fun, rather than making it too difficult to complete.
I don't have that much time to play, but I have gotten 1 character to rank 4 and another halfway there. I know I'll be able to finish with all 3. But the process could be ...less infuriating.

Don't feel bad I went 10 matches caught in that exact situation. After number 5 I exited matchmaking and re-entered then the same thing happened again!

1 ReplyAt times it was bad but overall it was ok. Titan level 3, Warlock level 4 and Hunter Level 4. I am glad it is over. Used over 50k Glimmer.

5 RepliesI have given up on IB to the point where I just sit there. I have played it everyday this week and im still not rank 4 and the harder I try the worst my team does so I stopped trying.
-
Think I've been lucky. 4 in a row is the most I've went. But I hear what u are saying !!!

yea the join in progress in this game is very broken. i play mostly solo, and have been joined into nearly 1000 games that have already started, and lost most of them. this has ruined my win loss ratio and my average kills/score per game . also boosted my games played count way higher then it should be ive easily had 100+ matches were i only had enough time to get a single kill before it ended
-
I haven't experienced this issue while im playing but last night my son had a map where everyone on the other team left except one player and as new players entered they would eventually leave because all the control points where locked down and the score was like 10k to 300. Then he had another map that as soon as he spawned he got shot in the back and the match ended. He quit playing IB and did the daily instead. Bungie did post that they knew of a problem and that it would be patched in 1.2.0 so i hope that fixes it.

Edited by BLuRR 203: 5/3/2015 7:02:21 PMI played solo and i had nights where the matchmaking put me in crap teams over and over but i pulled thru rank 5 finally. That's nothing i had a fayg level 24 who repeatedly pulled a .06 kill death radio, .16 next game, .10 following game and this fagg lost the match for us every freaking game, and after 4 straight games where they matched him in my team i left matchmaking and went to orbit to restart. Didn't see the fag the rest of the day thankfully. When you bitch them out and they are causing the entire team to lose each game and expecting people to carry them to rank 3 get the eff out of iron banner. Whoever the dbag was who brought him in is an ahole. Had that happen Friday and Saturday with low levels.

I started running with a team, last IB I just got sick of losing so much. I still hop in to a game solo occasionally and sometimes it not that bad, but every once in a while I'll be spawned into a game where the heavy has already dropped so I just get destroyed for a couple minutes.

Matchmaking is bad normally puts u v full fireteams aswell
Surely they could add some sort of filter that prevents players from repeatedly entering stale games. Or is this really just all my bad luck?
if I don't like the team I am matched with which I inevitably get matched with in the next game then I just quit automatic matchmaking once in orbit and click to rejoin. that gets me a fresh team - Maybe only do this once a night if i am on a 3-4 match losing streak. Still never lost more than 4 games in a row and I am really poor (0.71 K/D).

Played solo. Rank 5 IB now. It's not that bad, you just gotta be good at completing your bounties for Lord salad and hope at the same time your team can stand their own.

2 RepliesThe real problem for incomplete groups.
The one random that flip the spawns
18 RepliesI don't understand why single players get thrown into games against 6 man clans all using thorn and felwinters sniper. That's ridiculous.
-
I've always run IB solo. I just roll with it. I like being a one man wrecking crew.
-
5 RepliesI was dropped on a game earlier where the score was around 19,500 to 10,000.
-
I lost like 7 games in a row because of my team. Every game i was carrying my team at like 4k points
-
A similar thing happened to me, I was soloing, the game I was in, everyone was solo, there were no fire teams, my team beats the other team by 10,000+ so the room is disbanded, the next room I'm in there's a fireteam of six and one of four, everyone was 32 except the other solo guy and that was probably the most intense game I've ever been in. I think one thing that may help would be they try to match fireteams up, so if you're in one with 6 people they match you against another 6 person team. If you have 5 they put another fireteam of 5 in and so on

1 ReplyI quite like these matchups. I don't bother with winning, and instead pick a specific task: practice taking a certain point, use an unusual weapon, do a bounty, or just make life hard for that guy with the sniper*. It's anomalous in the extreme for this to happen five times in a row, so I'm happy enough to goof off, take the medallions, and soon enough there'll be a game where it's my fault if I don't win. * seriously, taking a shotgun to a sniper fight is massive, massive fun. All he has to do is hit you, but all you have to do is make him miss.

Try posting yourself on LFG. Join up with a group of 6 and this problem will all but vanish.

I only solo and still ranked 4 Wednesday night and 5 Thurs morning (my weekend). It's even easier for Sat/Sun players. Sure, when your matched against Crucible oriented teams/guilds it can be rough, but that's what the Medallion mechanic is for.
-
I dont really mind playing solo but it is bullshit sometimes. Especially when you go 23/3 and your team still gets trampled
-
Only a few more tedious days to go.
-
Personally, I prefer playing solo. Last time I played in a team we kept facing other huge teams, which seemed to always have a lagswitcher or something. Maybe they were just skilled, but especially one match where we were ahead by like 5000 points and then we all screamed in dismay like 30 seconds later when we were suddenly losing. I STILL don't know what happened there. When I play solo, if there is any cheating, at least I have a 50-50 shot of landing on the cheating side :)
-
I have had this problem too but generally after one or two I back out and relaunch Iron Banner. Seems to help sometimes
-
1 Replyi honestly dont have this problem as a solo player. maybe the algorithms are just screwing you?
