I was wondering when I should tackle the new dlc areas. I played dks 2 on 360 but never got the dlc for it and was wondering if I should do the new areas before or after completing the original content (throne of want).

I'd say you could try them at about the time you unlock drangleic castle. So once you beat the four major bosses and can get up to the castle. By that point you should have decent enough stats and gear to try it out.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind, currently on my first play through and am at the very beginning of iron keep and only beaten lost sinner out of the four great ones.

Alright you have a little then lol. Just be mindful of the enemies in the DLC areas. Many have status effects and they are very hard to stagger.
