Buying/upgrading from Xur? Why?
Pretty simple.
Bought: Radiant Dance Machines and Helm of Inmost Light
Upgraded: Heart Of The Praxic Fire
All three had (slightly) better stats than what I previously had. Stat whore here.
Edit: Bought a Shotgun and Pulse Rifle Telemetry. I like to keep 25 of each at least.
What'd you get and why?

Don't pvp with my warlock much but I'll get a voidfang and some heavy synths. Maybe an engram... it will make a nice shard.

Raidant Dance Machines - last exotic armor left in my collection (pre HoW :P ) to collect. The Last Word...felt like having 2 of them instead of just one. :)

1 ReplyI grabbed The Last Word from him as well the Radiant Dance Machines (didn't have them) and Voidfang Vestments because they were better than my pre-patch ones and they look cool. I dismantled my pre-patch Last Word to make way for the fresh and shiny new one. All in all, a productive Xur day.

11 RepliesBought Radiant Dance Machines (gonna try it out with MIDA), Voidfang Vestsments and pulled the trigger on an Achlophage Symbiote upgrade (going from +101 to +125 Discipline). Plus my weekly allowance of telemetries and Heavy Ammo.

Bought a chest engram hoping for something for my Hunter to pair with my newly acquired raid gear. Happy to get a a Lucky Raspberry. I don't see anything else I want to buy so I guess I may be spending my coins on shards to upgrade my exotics.

5 RepliesI will have to check if he has anything with a significantly higher roll than what I have, but I probably won't buy any armor. As of this week I have all exotic armors, so I'm set on that. I'll probably buy TLW since I haven't upgraded my old one yet (still under 300 atk). And maybe a sparrow upgrade, cause why not.

1 ReplyRight now I have over 400 coins and have one of everything from Xur's loot table. I do check him each week though since I've found that a few of my exotic armor stats at max level can sometimes be huge point levels behind the starting stat number of stuff that he can sell or upgrade. Since I have the coin to spend I have no problem with throwing it away on upgrades that will raise my stats 20-40 points rather than just sit and collect coins for probably nothing to ever use them on until he can sell the items that are PS exclusives.
