I usually inspect the lobby before a match and leave if there are too many bad connections showing. Sometimes you will see a full slate of green health bars ahead of time. Then the match starts and the leaderboard will show people with barely there (trace red/orange bar) connections; often one of them will be at the top of the board. They are typically very hard to kill, I have used 3/4 of a machine gun mag to drop them when it shoudn't take more than 5 shots at the most. While they are bullet sponges, they seem to be able to kill with minimal bullets (on your screen anyway). Does the extra game activity cause the connection to deteriorate or is it man-made interference? The end result is the same either way, someone gets an advantage.

I think they may use a Destiny server to measure everyone's ping in the lobby to determine the best host. If you all ping the Destiny server in less than say, 50 ms, all looks green. For example: Destiny server - California Player A - Vancouver, BC, Canada Players B - F - South-East USA - Florida, Georgia, etc. Player B in Atlanta is chosen as host server. Now player A in Vancouver goes from a green, sub-50 ms ping to a red, plus 150 ms ping. This can cause player A to either; 1) lag so far behind everyone that he gets destroyed because everyone sees him first in every encounter 2) lag comp kicks in so much he becomes an unkillable super guardian Either way, it will appear to the lobby tha he is skipping around the map like a mofo. I don't always blame the guy with the bad connection, because matchmaking may have put him in an unsuitable lobby. I do get a little annoyed when the top score 80% of the time is a guy that lags so much that you can't touch them.

  • I agree, nothing more frustrating than watching glide half the map and not taking damage, I still like it more than cod, but afraid if they keep nerfing it will become cod.
