I think the best thing to do would be to have 3 RNG drop options at the end of the nightfall to choose from. That way, for example, you wouldn't get stuck with now worthless ascendant materials unless you wanted them.

I could get behind this... As long as the materials offered are consistent with activity... ie. Pre-TDB gets ascendant, TDB gets Radiant and HoW gets whatever is specific to it.

Exactly. It could be as simple as 1 armor, 1 weapon, and 1 mat option. Personally I like getting strange coins and collecting them, but others still need ascendant things or better weapons. This way rewards match the difficulty setting while remaining random.
