Actually, now I'm curious.
How many people here have actually read Dimitry Glukhovsky's Metro series?
I haven't.
I read the first book and it was kind of poorly translated(you need to translate like 6 languages before going into english to have a good russian translation, IIRC. the grammar and syntax are very different). and it's not a trilogy. it's set up with a complete universe outside of the artyom stories. he went with an opensource web based franchise...
-
Ok, I think I understand it all a little better now. But opensource? Ick, I remember what that did to Lovecraft.
-
-
Alright, what's your opinion on them?
-
They were very decent, it was a pain to get an English version though. And at some parts the translation was rough. Still great though!
-
Would but can't find an English copy in the states
-
Guess you're going to have to learn Russian, comrade.
-
It's not a trilogy. But you should read them. They are brilliant - if badly translated at times.
-
See, shows how much I know. But I thought there was a '33, '34 and '35...? Anyway, I've been considering picking them up. What do you think are the odds of me finding them in a used bookstore somewhere?

Edited by Psyntifik: 2/25/2015 5:17:32 PMSorry, I meant to finish that with "... Yet". There's only 2 now, but I haven't heard anything on a third. I'd say pretty high. I picked them both up new at Waterstones. Failing that, they are on Audible for pretty cheap.
