Game (UK) just called me. Apparently all (or at least many) of their deliveries of the Destiny Ghost Editions across the country were damaged. They wanted to warn me before Tuesday and said that I could take the damaged copy and they would replace it at a later date. I don't know how they are going to manage that, as I don't think Bungie / Activision will make more copies.
Has anyone else had the call from Game yet? I just wanted to check their story checked out and I wasn't the only one getting shafted.

1 Replyits true but dont worry, activision/bungie are responsible for shipping a product safely and will have no choice but to make more and replace the damaged goods legally

I just spoke to my local Game and they said in my case it's just the box that's damaged and the contents are fine. They're trying to replace any that are damaged with a cancelled pre-order from another store so at least they 're trying to solve the issue.

3 RepliesEdited by TGxPriest: 9/7/2014 4:07:00 PMSomeone claiming to be a GS manager said the same thing yesterday.. guess its true. It has something to do with the shape and stacking them too high on top of eachother (weight) according to the post i read on reddit.. apperently a box with rounded off edges is not as strong as your usual crate. feel bad with you guys, especially because they were to lazy to cover the CE boxes in a protective cover/box.

Edited by Adam James Pugh: 9/7/2014 10:27:26 PMI actually started a thread on this topic yesterday - http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/68796956 . I pre-paid my order at GAME over the weekend. One thing that was slightly concerning was how many of the boxes had suffered cosmetic damage whilst being delivered to the store - according to staff, a couple were damaged to the extent that they've had to have them completely replaced for Tuesday's release. The Ghost Edition's box has a greater number of edges than a cuboid of course - meaning a greater chance of them taking a knock unfortunately. Fingers crossed everyone whose ordered one receives it in perfect condition. I only saw three copies of the PS4 Ghost Edition; one had a dented corner, the second had very minor cosmetic damage to a couple of the edges and the third was perfect except that the sleeve was crumpled in one area. I took the third and the staff kindly swapped the sleeve for one which was clean from another copy. I was being exceptionally anal but when your paying £150 ($250 USD!), I expected it to be pristine.

Well that sucks.

3 RepliesI've heard nothing, and I went it yesterday and asked. They said most of its nothing but a rumor, which j completely agree. People are messing with you.
-
1 ReplyDid they say what type of damage it was? If it is all (or most) it sounds like it might be water damage or something.
-
When you collect it, take a photo with the game, your receipt and the person who serves you all in shot. If they try and dispute your entitlement to a replacement, send them the photo.
-
No way! Poor you :( I was in my GAME store yesterday and saw my edition and pre-purchased it.
-
Not heard a thing, all the ghost editions at my local GAME get in safe and intact with out any damage and I have seen them too, as nice as the day they were shipped.

1 ReplyDoes this also go for GameStop in the US?

13 RepliesAfter calling I resorted to Twitter speedy response. But the conversation is still going. I'll update.

I would be pissed off but if it's only the box then guess that's not that bad

Edited by MooSnr: 9/7/2014 6:51:03 PMOh jeez… Game are completely useless sometimes. It's bad enough they've driven pretty much every indie game store out of business, but they insist on staffing their stores with kids who don't seem to know or care about customer service - I had an absolute nightmare in there today trying to pay my pre-order. If I were you RuffRiider I'd get them to cancel the Ghost Edition and just take the digital download option. At least that way you definitely get the game and can play when you want?

I do hope this is bollocks

37 RepliesTurns out this is a widespread issue. Bravo Bungie!
-
2 RepliesWhere you live? Because I am in hull and my edition fine and I got no phone call about it being damaged
-
4 RepliesWow, they are going to sell a damaged product, for the same price. Thats such BS
-
2 RepliesThe thing is I've already paid the full price for it. They do that so it saves you queuing for hours at midnight.
-
You almost gave me a heart attack there. Thank Marty O'Donnells mullet that I'm not getting the Ghost Edition. I feel sorry for you.
-
I hope mine arrives ok. But I ordered through Best Buy. Feel bad for those who got damaged packages this will only spike the price again...

If what TGxPriest has said is true then anyone with a GE should be given a refund on part of their purchase. Since Game etc were the ones who damaged the product, they should be liable.
-
3 RepliesSounds like it could be a localised issue. Any word on what the damage is? Box...? Worse?
-
I got a call from some number too.

A sullen thought just struck me: What if they mean that by damaged, they really mean they have had some that have 'fallen off the back of a truck'? Hopefully those delivery drivers don't plan to take an edition or seven to sell on ebay...
