Just make a mode where there is NO invader. Just to see how many people would play.

I think Invasion is too core a gameplay element in Gambit to remove it. What it definitely needs is a punishment for an unsuccessful Invasion / reward for defeating the invader. The first idea that comes to mind is that the invader's death should heal their team's Primeval, the amount restored being lowered for every kill they get. For a more experimental alternative, give the invader a lockout timer, so that individual can't invade again until it has expired. More often than not, the game is decided by one player repeatedly invading and swinging the game on their own. Preventing one person from having this much influence without removing the ability for the team as a whole to invade could work.

If they took out invaders, yall would just complain about teams melting the primeval. Invaders are easy to deal with. It's 4v1, yall have supers and heavy too. When the invader comes, go hunt him instead of hiding.

1 ReplySooo killing a bunch of ads with no PvP (invader) aspect? How is this different from every useless seasonal activity 🤷🏿♂️
-
3 RepliesInstead when you get the scores to invade you send a tormentor in place of the invader
-
1 ReplyInvading is part of Gambit. If Bungie was going to cut any of it out, they need to do it so that once a Primeval is spawned, invasions are done. Or, reduce the frequency, limit the number of invader kills to 2, reduce the invasion time by a third, take away all the invaders weapons and give them some kind of invasion only abilities like a super, etc. There are a lot of adjustments that can be made before they take them out completely, but I don't think they care enough to try. Just remember, Marathon is an extraction shooter, which usually involves PvPvE just like Gambit. Good luck on the new game Bungie. Seriously.

Just make a mode where there is NO invader. Just to see how many people would play.
I like ideas posted across this thread. Random invader sent over, triple the mote limit, no invader heavy or super use, and limit the number of invades so the other team has to use them strategically.

2 RepliesI think that would be an interesting change. At least, maybe reduce the amount of opportunities to invade. I realized long ago, that a team with an ace invader has a significantly better chance of winning. Particularly if they are invading a lot. I kind of like Gambit. Though I do wish there were more maps.

How to fix gambit? Leave that superblack shader in as a reward.

Edited by waterpolo1: 8/26/2023 4:57:07 AMThan it would just be another generic Hoard-mode-light that they release every season. Without an invader there is no point in making a 4v4 game mode. By all means, give it a try but this won't make gambit better. Personally I would rather they add More maps, More bosses (like a copy paste of some strike, raid and dungeon bosses), Mixed enemy groups instead of one type per match, throw in tormentors, And maybe make it so a random person becomes an invader, that way the PvP god wont be hopping in and killing all the headless chickens running around ignoring the red screen and countdown timer.

Double enemy density Get rid of boss immunity Leave portal constantly up
-
So essentially turn it into every seasonal activity where you pick stuff up and bank it while killing things

2 RepliesInvaders just need to be unable to use supers and heavy

Edited by an engram full of bees: 8/26/2023 3:25:23 AMAs a longtime gambit lover, I think the best thing to do at this point is to just remove it from the game completely. Any time spent on it is taking away from other parts of the game. In a perfect world, it would be very complementary to other gamemodes and playlists. But Bungie has shown that (for whatever reason) they can’t manage it effectively on top of Vanguard and Crucible playlists. It’s a shame, cuz it honestly has so much potential. But this late in the game’s life cycle I think any changes just won’t matter anymore.

2 RepliesI remember a post ages ago that Bungie, I think Cozmo actually said sounded like good ideas worth consulting the team over, but unfortunately, I don't think any of them made the cut. Some were QOL changes, others were risk/ reward features like invading while carrying motes. This was back in Y2, so even if it can still be found, I'm not looking for it.

I'm more into trying an idea , even if I don't feel it's a very strong idea, then just letting it die & deleted from the game. Good idea.
-
I've been saying this. Just make it a race to 100 motes and kill the primeval. Up the motes to about 2 or 300 if need be. But I feel like that would save gambit. Also give the primeval a lot more health so it won't get nuked.

1 ReplyAll they have to do is bring back Bygones. Great weapons is the only reason most people played Gambit back in the day.
-
1 ReplyI think invaders should only get a scorch cannon on invasions. Make that a mode and I'd play it.
-
1 ReplyHonestly I think a better change would be if the same player wasn’t able to invade each time, but not sure how they would implement that.
-
2 RepliesGambit would be better if there was a set amount of invades. The catch up mechanic is awful , or they should copy the Titan Fall game more attrition
-
Skill issue
-
3 RepliesNah I hate gambit but it's a pve/pvp game mode, if you remove the pvp aspect it's no longer gambit
-
Only way to fix gambit is by selecting all and hitting delete.
-
Gambit's fine. I don't really invade anymore, thats a job for non-dredgen's to fill. I am fine with invasions being there, gotta give it a slight challenge.
-
Easiest Fix: Don't play it!
