Regardless of whether Invisbility is overpowered, Void Hunter is undoubtedly overused. Nerf Void Hunter to foster variety in Crucible!

Void hunter is the most used because arc and solar and stasis hunter have nothing going for them. Arc hunter is melee focus...in a shotgun meta. Stasis hunter is just bad at everything because their focus (slow) does nothing. And solar hunter's special ability is a WEAKER tripmine grenade.

Edited by NotCreative123: 10/29/2022 8:01:49 PMEh, I'm not sure it matters why Void Hunter is overused, but we can discuss it. I think Arc Hunter is terrible. It has poor grenades, Blink is not viable, and it's super isn't good (regardless of what players on the Forums would have you believe). It's melee isn't nearly as strong as it should be, and it should be strong to make up for the lackluster abilities all around. Solar Hunter is quite viable, but it's situational. On certain maps, specific Solar Hunter builds are nigh-unstoppable. However, on maps that don't have a lot of flat wall, Tripmine grenades fall flat, and the OHK throwing knives are not as consistent as they should be to be competitive. Don't get me wrong, I think Solar Hunter is fine, but it's heavily map-dependant (and also depends on how the other team plays). Finally, Blade Barrage is insane for Trials, as it has a fast cooldown and shuts down most other supers. I personally main Stasis Hunter, so it's hard for me to talk poorly about the subclass that I believe gives me the best chance of winning. That being said, Duskfield grenades are the best part of the build. However, they only set up kills; they won't secure you kills by themselves. It is definately a playstyle that supports players who prefer Primary weapons, since keeping a player weak matters more when you're using a primary. Additionally, Silence and Squall isn't a poor choice, but it lacks the shut-down potential of Blade Barrage. Silence and Squall is the epitome of a jack-of-all-trades super. Overall, usage on this class is low due to it synergizing well with Primary weapons and not as well with Special weapons. Finally, Void Hunter is both the most used and most adaptable subclass. Regardless of your playstyle, Void Hunter can be used competitively. I think Void Hunter's adaptability is why so many players prefer it to the other classes. There are also a wide variety of Exotics that buff an already well-endowed ability and allow a player to perfectly customize the playstyle. Solar had quite a few good exotics, but they lack the variety of the Exotics for Void Hunter. Again, it doesn't matter why Void is the most used. The only relevant fact is that it IS. We can discuss "why" all we want, but the only way to fix the problem is to take actions that will reduce the efficacy of Invisibility, the defining Void Hunter trait.

Change invis and nightstalker will have no reason to exist in the game. Solar is not good in crucible, there is a skill gap that many people can't get over for some players they are good with it but for most the knives feel terrible the grenades are avoidable, arc is terrible as we're in a sidearm meta so melee based abilities don't work unless you have an overshield protecting you. Lastly stasis is a weird one because the effect of the abilities are not offensive persay but rather for hunting people down, which is fine but again there exists a skill curve with it. Ntm the shurikens never hit anything you want them to.

Nightstalker is overplayed. Provide a solution other than nerfing Invisibility
-
make the other subs better? Why, haven't I seen this solution before? if it's only for diversity, then make solar and arc better. But no, it's not for diversity, it's because people can't use their eyes and ears and crutch too hard on radar, but they are too scared to admit it.

There are 10 other subclasses, not just the three on Hunter. Do you really think it's better to buff 10 subclasses than to just nerf the two that are being overused?
-
yes. bc if you nerf NS, then it loses its viability. It would be pointless like it was.
-
That's silly. There are different levels of nerfs that can be applied. If I reduced Invisibility uptime by 1 second, do you think NS would suddenly be terrible? What about if I made Invisibility slightly easier to see? These are examples of nerfs that would have a minor impact on the viability of NS. If your argument is that "If Bungie nerfs NS to be unusable, then they won't be viable", then you're basically saying nothing.
-
Says the Void Titian who has overshields 90% of the time. That's broken. Literally a free 100 health for a ability that recharges in >1 Min? Open your eyes, and listen for the sound ques. If you know they're coming, then they aren't a threat.
-
They already nerfed it, if gyrefalcons and omni didn't exist no one would use it. And the thing is invis is so ingrained into nightstalker identity if it's nerfed further it will be pointless to use.
-
So your solution to combat the overused of Nightstalkers is to nerf the Exotics that improve Invisbility?
-
Simply explaining the reason why it is so popular right now, ntm the other subclasses are meh in crucible.
-
Edited by NotCreative123: 10/30/2022 3:01:41 AMYes, but the other classes are used an appropriate amount, whereas Void Hunter and Arc Titan are much too common. It's really not complicated. Bungie needs to nerf the outliers, so the other builds will have a place to shine as well. Especially Warlocks How would you nerf Void Hunter?
-
I wouldn't.
-
Edited by NotCreative123: 10/30/2022 3:13:56 AMIf 75% of players used Void Hunter, then would you do something? At what point is it not OK to allow one or two subclasses to dominate the meta? Its just my opinion, but in a game with twelve options to choose from, 25% of players choosing one of the options is a problem.
-
they did. Remember blade dancer in D1? Remember when solar was the best sub because of how bad void was? Remember when statis was used everywhere? they nerfed all of them, and this is why where we are at, not because of void. It's because all the other classes where too good.
-
Exactly. Those are great examples of subclasses that were overused and nerfed as a result. What's the difference with Bungie nerfing Nightstalker and Striker?
-
Because the other options don't work as well for most people and require either more skill, luck, or build crafting.
-
Edited by NotCreative123: 10/30/2022 4:28:57 AMThere's no way to prove the reason why something is overused, so why bother trying? Regardless of the reason why, Void Hunter is used way more often than the other subclasses. It needs to be addressed
-
If it is nerfed, it will be useless. Unless they rework the ENTIRE subclass, and you know they won't do that anytime soon.
-
If they nerf Invisbility too hard and players neglect Void Hunter, Bungie can buff it to compensate
-
Then what was the point of nerfing it in the first place
-
To reduce usage rates. If usage rates drop beneath say 5% or so, then Bungie can buff it to encourage players to use it more often. The ideal usage rate for a subclass (before Lightfall) is around 8 or 9%.
-
Out of four subclasses? How does that add up are you determining that over the entire game or specific to each class
-
There are 12 subclasses in the game.
