SBMM Crucible

Guys, Ever since sbmm has been turned off, or atleast changed for the casual list. It's REALLY sucked. I'm not amazing at crucible, by anymeans, yet i held a modest 1.34 kda. and now every day, it's closing in on negative. KDA, not even KD right. I understand that there are those that have terrible connections, however doing this has removed peoples choice of match making. it should be an option. Not forced on us. It's getting more and more frustrating, when nearly every match there is always 1-2 people in every match that are near untouchable. I would go to the competitive playlist, but really i don't like the pace of the game. I know this will probably not get acted upon, but sbmm caters for like 80% of players that just want fun games. where as turning it off is for the top 20% of players that don't want a challange. EDIT: I've read the feedback, and agree if anything it's not an easy issue to resolve, as you can't keep everyone happy. After some thinking, i guess it's down to two factors for me, (well somewhat 3 really) But I felt i was getting better at a steady pace, however when sbmm was turned off I was then getting matched against people that are way above my skill level, at highest i won't be able to reach which i'll admit. Secondly, getting summarily beaten so many times, had killed my motivation to even attempt to get to that level because i know my limits, this changed my motivation for taking for granted the fun i was having getting challanged just enough to feel like i was improving vs now getting destroyed. This, i will admit to entitlement. What I will probably end up doing in the future, for the days where i am motivated to improve, i'll go into comp. I still have Luna's to go after, so motivation is still there. Thank you everyone for the feedback (positive and negative). <3

  • The best way to stop the madness is for bungie to disable stats in quick play. People claim they want to goof off with different stuff and not take it serious, so don’t allow stats

This season, the answer we have for you is "Go play Survival or Elimination"

      • Sbmm gave you a false illusion that you were better then you are, now you can see where you truly sit, rather then go back to dreamworld use cbmm to drastically improve and you'll see actual improvement you know to be an accurate representation of your skill level, 6vs6 and skill based dont mix well, theure polar opposites = one a casual laid back chaos fest the other intended for competitive and sweaty modes

SBMM was cancerous. My matches were always sweaty and I never had games where I can chill and enjoy myself. Is the current CBMM similiar in a sense? Yes only due to a lower playerbase. I still have to sweaty matches majority of my time but I have some easy ones too. Also I never even once used the META during the SBMM timeframe. Been an anti-META lord since Day One. Trust me I understand your frustration regarding the games you receive with CBMM but it wasnt a fun experience if you were above 10% in the game. I do have to thank SBMM though because it made me better overall in the game and now CBMM is making me even better due to the horrible lobby balancing I continue to see.

              • People in the upper skill bracket dont hate sbmm because it gives them a challenge I mostly played trials or comp but with sbmm im either facing a 6 stack of kd farmers or everyone is using meta and playing like its a tourney. I like to mess around lay back and use bad juju it’s impossible in sbmm to have fun

                • I take em as I get em. Some matches I get absolutely shit stomped whether it be because the other players are better, the connections are pure ass or a mixture of both. Some matches the games are very close, I'm talking win or lose is within 5-10 points and those games are sweaty yet fun. Some matches I feel like I'm a rabid wolf in a daycare for blind kids and it's a total massacre where we absolutely demolish the other team and usually get a mercy rule but those games are few and far between. I've always been about average with a general KD/KDA overall around 1.2 or 1.8 on a good day so I'm nowhere near god tier levels of 60+ kills a game pubstomping skill. SBMM was iffy at best and unplayable at worst for me. You either get ungodly lag because the game feels that literally NOBODY in your region is similar to your skill so it pulls people from all corners of the globe and matchmaking takes forever and mind you... 1.8kd on a good day... Or every single match you play feels like you're trying to quality for a million dollar tournament. Everyone complaining about CBMM making games unplayable because all you do is get stomped and have to sweat with meta trash all the time is exactly how the matches that I had to play day after day after day in SBMM were. And remember, I'm an average player, slightly above average at best. I would much rather matches that feel like a mystery bag with semi decent connections than feel like a qualifier for a world series in a room that smells like unwashed ass, Doritos, Gfuel and internet connections being held together by Elmer's glue and cheap ass tape any day. At least with CBMM I can use different weapons. As annoying as 600 autos are, have y'all tried Martyrs Retribution with a hipfire smg? People don't expect it and it's pretty fun spraying people's kneecaps while their little feeties get burned.

Regardless of skill. What you are advocating for is a special kiddie pool where people in the fat end of the bell curve get rewarded with fast matches and good connection, while those at the pointy end get neither because they took the time to improve and are cast into match making hell as a reward. Sorry. But sbmm is gone now. Tough luck. Maybe take some time to improve instead of advocating for the game to be bent to your needs.

                    • It’s actually refreshing to see someone taking feedback from their thread, thinking about it, and looking at themselves 👍. I can understand your issues but for me personally I think cbmm is best for the health of the game. Like others have said it’s impossible task to keep everyone happy. I do think some people need to adjust the way they play and with that they might find enjoyment in cbmm pvp. I think people try to play they way normally do vs higher skilled players, and when it doesn’t work blame matchmaking. I’ve had it before when I’m in a lobby and I’m the weaker player, I just put a pulse on and into team shooting mode. Maybe put a scout with dragonfly on and play at range, as a sniper myself I hate the flinch that does.

                    • Let me answer as succinctly as, I can, I suck at pvp, no question, but I played it a fair bit with sbmm, as I played against similar level players. I hardly touch it now, since the change, lots do, lots love it, but the change basically forced lower level or casual pvp players out of the game mode, a massively damaging and retrograde step for obvious reasons.

I would go to the competitive playlist, but really i don't like the pace of the game.
One of the things that has truly amazed me over the course of the last year is finding out that this wasn't how the game was working for everyone when SBMM was engaged. I had thought that this was everyone's experience in pretty much every single match. Low and behold the game was apparently giving certain players a far higher quality experience. If stuff like this has to happen then it should be happening to everyone, not just people who are above average in terms of whatever skill is in Destiny.

                      • If you had a KD different from 1 when SBMM was on, it means SBMM did not work and you did not face your equals. In an ideally balanced lobby everyone should end with 1.0 KD.

                      • The only sure way to get Bungie’s attention is if you and players that feel the same as you stop playing. Plummeting player counts will catch their eye. Sadly, your post will not.

                      • No don’t bring back SBMM. Not trying to sound like I’m amazing at Pvp but I’ve been around the ropes and cbmm allows people who have improved at pvp to relax, it’s the case of bad team balancing and the lack of team Vs team. If they fixed the teams going against solo players it will be little better but it’s still a mess

                      • Most competitive players stay in comp. I don't even touch the other playlists. I like playing comp. Cause it gets my blood boiling. Makes me feel alive, then makes me want to go jump off a building cause of the annoyances that bungie don't fix in the game. If your kda is dropping and dropping in regular pvp. Eventually you'll bottom out and play with people of your level. I have a friend that is terrible 90% of the time. When he plays solo. He wrecks people cause the game is putting him up against people at his skill level. When he plays with me and my friends. He can't get one kill 99% of the time. It's so damn funny. But now everyone stopped playing the game and I've switched over to PC. The comp is for sure a lot harder on PC than xbox. Xbox I stayed around a 1.65 to a 1.83 kda. on PC I stay around a 1.3. . I don't know the point I'm trying to make. I'm bored out of my mind and thinking about playing this stupid game.

                        • Why not play comp then? There is an option for a game mode with SBMM. I'm not an advocate for or against it, the crucible suffers in one way or another whether it's here or isn't.

nope. learn to play the game efficiently or don't, but it doesn't cater to 80% of the population. This is one of the easiest FPS... all it requires is time and effort.
