I’ve finally figured it out after analyzing my thoughts and feelings about the game. I have figured out what is missing in this wonderful MMOFPS experience.
Depth and community
I love the game, the quick level to end game, and each activity that I’ve been a part in (aside from Crucible as I like Gambit better). However the game needs more depth to me and something that would also bring the community together more.
For the MMO part I’d say it needs more in depth stories, new enemies and possibly classes.
For the FPS part, more of a reason and ways to get better gear and to be able to hold on to that gear that you earn.
For the community, I’m not sure. Not very many people talk good about the forums and I rarely see anyone chatting with each other on Local chat. Even teaming up with people still seems like a run and gun solo adventure sometimes. I often feel like I’m in competition with my team rather than co-op in strikes or dungeons however raiding I feel teamwork is needed and is there if you want to succeed.
Finally I think vaulting and Sunsetting is going to take away from all 3 of the above.
Destiny 2 needs more depth and content and taking away will not make the game better.
I hope that anyone that reads this can offer constructive criticism so maybe we can help make this a better MMO and FPS experience for everyone.

It works in other mmos because they work on the holy trinity (tank heal and dps classes) whereas destiny has the concept of the holy trinity, but it’s never required to actually complete anything. As it stands now you could run the newest dungeon with spectral blades, stormcaller and hammers with little to no issues. More subclasses perhaps, such as stasis, but classes seem fine at the moment. It’s a “would I like more? Yes, is it needed? No.” Type of deal. New enemies are on the horizon (the pyramid ship enemies) we just likely have to wait until 2022 (light fall) to actually fight them. It sucks, and I hope we at least get a couple darkness enemies as bosses in between now and then, but that’s just how the Destiny story works. We know they exist because of the lore. Which leads me to my other point, community. While this forum might be the most toxic place since Chernobyl, the community as a whole (especially the active community) was ranked as the best gaming community for a reason. Go to r/Destinylore and find someone acting they do here. You don’t. Even those who hate the game are constructive and don’t hate on bungie because they still love the lore. Same goes for the Sherpa community I’m apart of. Just the top 5 have helped we’ll over 10,000 people clear their first raids. The raid race community is always trying to take redeems world first runs, but only in true sportsmanship. Wanting others to share the glory of worlds first instead of blindly hating clan redeem. Once you navigate off this site and find a friendly discord or Facebook group, you will have a 1000% better experience in Destiny 2. Lastly vaulting and sunsetting are both mmo mechanics. Specifically both have been used in some sense for WoW content. While there is a (very) vocal minority that’s threatening to leave with vaulting and sunsetting, this was also a threat we heard in D1’s taken king when guns like Gjallarhorn were sunset. The reality is once this actively takes place, most players will just move onto new guns and accept it (as they did in D1) and very few will notice the vaulted content outside of the directory as they were never going there to begin with. Luke Smith gave us the numbers, there were .3% of the populations (roughly 3000 people) playing Y1 Warmind content last season. Meanwhile, Warmind content takes up roughly 5% of the game. I understand people being upset about content leaving, but the fact is barely anyone was playing it. It’s better off being taken out and reworked than left to rot in the game.
