So I’m a pvp main player, I love pvp and do it all the time. I try to get legend in comp, it’s hard because I’m no top tier player, I’m good but I don’t have a team to help me.
I’ve been on and off losing and winning today, I’ve been so frustrated because I can’t get past 3900, I just go back to 3700 or 3600.
I’m a warlock main, but I decided to switch to a Titan because easy mode (Sorry Titan guys, it’s true). I play a round and drop a 24 kill match, it was fun. The next game I play I have a random blueberry, I’ve been playing freelance, who decides to just run up and get killed over and over.
This dude wasted all our lives and made us lose. He didn’t get a single kill.
Naturally I sent him a strongly worded msg via PS, I was very pissed. He tells me he, “Doesn’t wish to play comp.” he sends me a pic of the Redrix quest where you have to complete 25 competitive matches. Now I’m furious.
So your telling me, that because you don’t “wish” to play comp you have to ruin it for others?? I don’t think that’s fair.

This irks me as well, but we can't blame the player. We have to blame Bungie for having their quest steps not require effort to play well and try to win, only completions. It's why modes like Gambit are especially bad, no one cares about winning, only getting as many kills as they possibly can for their Bounties/Pinnacle Weapon Quests.

12 RepliesI hate PvP. So when I have to play it for quest/gear I put in zero effort, and throw myself off map or emote & wait for death. Sometimes I'll kinda bother, but usually not. I refuse to invest in a broken, glitchy & laggy sh*t show for one more second than I have to. Don't expect the world to play for your enjoyment. Suck it up & stop whining 😏

42 RepliesThe problem is not with this guy but with Bungie requiring people to do pvp to complete quests steps. As much as I disagee with what this person was doing, he has the right to play the game any way he wants. You as a player have a choice either play solo or form a team so that this does not happen. I would also be careful on sending messages through PS, it could result in you getting a PS ban.

3 RepliesI blame Bungie, not the Blueberry. Bungie mistake #1: He should not have been in your match (glory ranking) Bungie mistake #2: Should not be required to be in such a competitive game mode for the sake of completing bounty/quest. I missed out on the savior title last season for the sole reason that I did not want to be 'erentil guy' and bring that cheap shit into pvp to get the Komodo. Bungie needs to stop making us go pvp a certain way in order to complete a quest step and inadvertently ruin the match for others. Iron Banner is the same way where you got ppl using stupid loadouts for the sake of completing the quest and putting their team at a disadvantage.

28 RepliesEdited by DaSeven: 5/4/2020 5:18:27 PMHow entitled can someone be? Let me get this straight, you do pvp to reach Legend, you have a bad round where one of your players just happens to die over and over and you loose, then you choose to send him a PM where you harass said player because he plays competitive because of a quest he wants finished. Childish and Toxic does not even describe your mentality. Big shoutout to said blueberry that he even tried to explain himself to you.

1 ReplyBungie likes making you “complete x tedious amount of this thing” instead of actually incentivizing winning so naturally this kind of thing happens. Its the same with strikes and gambit. You dont need to kill bosses it’s just completions so people go in and throw or afk and no one cares. It’s a dumb system.

2 RepliesPlay comp at weekends when the hardcore players are in Trials.

And a Bungism claims another victim. Blame Bungie for their poor decision making.

This is the reason I've yet to start on lunas howl which is the only pvp oriented gun I don't have yet because it requires kills with hand cannons in comp. I'm average when I have good games an below average on bad ones when I'm using a loadout I'm comfortable with but if I were to use a hand cannon I'd just be losing the game for my team.

1 ReplyDon’t blame the player - blame the quest.

Dev's fault not the players.

I did the same thing in Rumble and Comp for the Broadsword back in the day. I backed out of Rumble matches after I got a kill or two with my super for the Guardian Games triumph. People did it to me in Gambit costing me the match to upgrade their Solstice armor. As Destiny players, we tend to take the path of least resistance. Unfortunately, it is the most efficient way to get it done and they don’t care what it does to your experience. The guy you were matched with didn’t want the game to last longer than it had too. That is just the way the objectives are designed and it really sucks. Luckily they have started designing the quests to where you won’t see this happening much at all. The best way to avoid this is honestly to form your own fire team. I know that defeats the purpose of freelance, but it’s true.

I get you, but you should have used Bungie's tools to report him. The Sabotage option can be found under Griefing. I don't know which kind of language you used, but PSN will not hesitate to take action against swearing. Be careful with it. Trust me, it's super satisfying to report a message from some dude raging and receiving the notification that PlayStation has contacted said player about their breach of the Code of Conduct... Bungie should do this.

2 RepliesHunters are easy mode. Should've gone with that 😏 And if you can't get past 3900 when comp is the easiest playlist I'm sorry bruv. But that's on you 🙃

You lost all my respect when you sent the Angry message to that guy. Comp ain't all that anyway... I suck majorly and I've hit legend, just don't take things so seriously.

4 RepliesI just laugh at idiots who send strongly worded messages. I payed for the game so 🖕🏻all of you who have issues.

1 ReplyLOL that you think a player being in comp to finish a quest is ban worthy. What is even logic in this post
-
2 RepliesNo wonder why you say you're not good at making friends 😂 sound like a total jerk tbh

1 ReplyThis is really Bungie's fault. Their Glory ranking system is poorly designed. At any rank there can be an extreme mixture of gamers. When you play at the wrong time, you end up in a losing streak. If Bungie plans to keep this system, they should greatly increase the points earned at every level. As for the Redrix quest, the weapon is not worth completing 25 Competitive matches. It should require 5 of these matches at most. The Redrix is just a trophy for the Collections tab. The gun isn't even worth wasting a slot in the vault.

1 ReplyTHIS and because you said Titans are easy mode 👍🏻

5 RepliesIdk about titan being easy mode, I thought it was universally understood that Hunters are.
I’m goofing. New boot goofing.
Also calm down. You’re embarrassing yourself by looking like a clown.

1 ReplyEdited by ImTrash: 5/4/2020 9:48:39 PMreal question is, why is this guy in your game , when you are around 3600 and hes probably around 500-1000 since he doesnt seem like hes enjoying comp. Same happend to me when the entire team was over 5k and i get some guys with 2100 points etc. Its kinda annoying but you shouldnt blame them since they dont want to get in those games either.
-
1 ReplyFor everyone saying that people should not be playing comp to complete a comp quest doesn’t understand what the weapon is supposed to be. Like the Not forgotten and Lunas howl, the redrix is supposed to be a crucible weapon that only the one who are skilled will get it. They are doing the right thing by making weapons hard to get so that people want to work for it. A top tier weapon should be for top tier players.

1 ReplyThe problem isn’t the other player. The problem is the strictly structured quest design.
