Just so everyone knows, I've been playing Destiny since the Destiny 1 Alpha so this post (possibly rant) comes from someone whose been with the game ever since. I also know what I'm posting may have been butchered already but I'm just throwing in my own two cents.
This season is absolute garbage. There's near nothing enjoyable about it. Yes, the Seraph Towers were fun...for like the first week or two, but they got boring quickly since your only hope of actually completing it is constantly loading back into the server and hoping there's a handful of people already doing it. If you have a fireteam of 3, it may be possible, but for players like myself who play solo, it's not fun to keep loading back in constantly just for a chance of being able to. I'm not even halfway on the EDZ bunker and there's two more after it I have to completely redo from scratch.
I personally do not like the look or the Seraph armor or ornaments for them for any of the characters. The Saint-14 styled armor and ornament set from the last season look SO much better. I may be biased since I main Titans but I think the last season armor looks best on them. Especially the ornaments. Though Saint-14 IS a Titan so that could be a factor too. This Seraph armor? No thanks.
All this season is, is do what we've been doing for the past 3 years but for almost no reason. The "new" guns and armor this season are just all the factions added to the drop pool. And the Seraph Bunkers require so much grinding for each one that it becomes such a tedious task.
The Season of the Undying and Dawn were SO much more enjoyable. They each had plenty of things to do, fun matchmaking modes that changed over time as the seasons drew to a close and the loot was worth grinding for. This season has near none of that. Each bunker is the same exact thing just on a different planet with already made lost sectors from that planet just becoming Legendary.
One thing I WILL admit I enjoy from this season is the ability to summon Heavy Frames which are enjoyable to see wreck havoc till they explode.
I may not have touched Trials at all since it's come back into Destiny 2, but I don't think I'm missing out on anything. From what I've seen and read, the only way you get anything remotely useful is if your team goes Flawless. If not, you basically don't get squat.
Also why are Titans and Warlocks the only ones having banned exotics that feel like they'll never get fixed or be usable again? Wormgod Caress has been out of commission for around two months now and Winter's Guile joined suit too. Also the one new exotic (Felwinter's Helm) for warlocks was basically instantly disabled a day or two after the seasons release and has been disabled since. Bungie is easily able to change how exotics work (like Stronghold for Titans or Sanguine Alchemy for Warlocks) but they'd just rather have them disabled for everyone for who knows how long. It just irks me how there's other exotics that could be declared broken (Like Tolesto, Truth, and the recently updated Khepri's Sting) but they remain perfectly fine. Truth may not be glitched like the others but it's still an insta-kill weapon. Very, very rarely do you ever see the actual rocket shot from it, (Same as Jotunn but I've been able to actually avoid some of those shots). If you don't have Truth, modes like Gambit become unenjoyable very quickly. Need invasion kills? Truth says "Nah, fam. Get wrecked".
Now I may sound like a whiny pissant for what I'm about to say next but you guys can't deny that Hunter's are the most used Class in Destiny 2. That's why I'm not going to be a huge fan of the Guardian Games event coming out next week. First place gets their marks plastered on the Tower for the rest of the year. Now I not being a real fan of Hunter's at all, will not enjoy seeing their emblems everywhere on the Tower every visit. It's almost guaranteed that it's going to be Hunters who get first place just on populace alone. It's basically a "Guardian Games for Second Place". Do I hope with all of my being that Titan's or Warlock's could be first? Hell yes, but going on stats and player base alone, I fear that's not happening.
I get that I can easily just drop this game for good till hopefully a better next season like I feel a lot are doing already, but I keep trying to find any reason to have this game be enjoyable for me. Sadly though, since I mainly play solo, that may not last too long since almost everything in the game now that will be rewarding requires fireteams of 3 at least to do.
I want to enjoy this game again Bungie, and I'm trying, but unless something drastic happens soon, I may be one of the others that drop this title.
There's a lot more issues that I could prattle on about but I think this cover's the gist of my issues with this game as it is now. I get that this just makes me sound like a whiny baby that just needs to suck it up, but I know a vast majority can't deny these facts.
Like or hate it, thanks for reading if you got to this point.
(If anyone replies to this, at least say why you think so if it's positive or negative. Not just comments like "lol, git gud".

I think of it as "Season of PvP" since all the attention and any decent loot is at Trials of Failsiris

1 ReplyYou know it’s bad when they start off with “I’m a d1 alpha/beta veteran”. -blam!- same here, stfu we’ve been through worse and you know that.

1 ReplyI have been playing since D1 beta. Even went as far as grabbing the PS4/Destiny bundle as that launched. The game as a whole has been a crazy rollercoaster of a ride. It’s had its ups and downs throughout the years. Forsaken (D2) and The Taken King (D1) were the peaks of both games. Bungie has shown after the split with Activision that they have no control and no clear direction for the game. They just keep changing their minds and trying different things blindly without caring about the consequences. This right now, with the state of the game, is an all time low for the game and doesn’t give me hope that it will see another resurgence as it has before.

It's "Worthless" or "Unworthy (of your time)", come on.

I agree with you about the shallow development that has occurred since Bungie split with ATVI. The fact that the franchise is being morphed into a WoW/Fortnite hybrid causes me concern. The F2P element present in the game seems like a built in excuse to be able to provide next to nothing in terms of new content.

1 ReplySeason of the Worthy (of being laughed at by Bungie for grinding it out to the end) 😂
