I've never really been a fan of snipers. I was always afraid that I'd miss a shot and screw up every time. After missing out on most of the season pass the ine thing that drew me back to destiny 2 was the menagerie. And with it came beloved. Beloved was used everywhere in crucible when it was out and I pushed myself to get a high enough light level and a chalice upgraded enough so that I could get it. My first roll was no distractions and moving target. I decided to try it out in crucible for the first time and it surprised me as to how good I was at wielding it. Headshots were easy to hit and it felt natural to me, as if I'd been doing it forever. I am now improving my snipe game and am now getting kills I'd never thought I'd get. Headshots whilst a guardian is flying in the air. Quickscopes, no scopes, collateral kills. I never though I had such power until now, and I thank bungie for making such 'beloved' weapon of mine.

  • Back when snipers were in the heavy slot. The game was close, we were behind by 1 point and my friends were cornering a hunter, the hunter goes arc strider so everyone scatters. A warlock was about to pick up heavy, I melee and he dies. Grab my silicon neuroma, aim down the corridor. Arc strider is doing the dodge and I pull off a headshot and get the winning kill.

  • Decided to try sniping in D1. Aimed down a lane on Widow's Court. Titan pops hammer while on the ground (i.e. standing still, easy kill). First shot misses, second shot bodies, third and fourth shot miss, teammate saves me with his sniper, we get double killed by Truth from the side. Didn't try that again!

  • So, I’m D1 on crossroads, a private match. Me and my cousin were some of the worst players you’d ever see, but we had fun. In the last few months of D1, him and I would pull out ice breaker, jump into a private match and just play. Some hilariously good trick shots were hit in this time, well, hilariously good according to us. Jump snipes, no scopes, quick scopes. It was fun. Now I use revoker, and I feel like a much better player, but I still remember!

  • I recently grinded out revoker. I found because of the perk I took more risks. And as I did they worked more often as I did. Revoker is excellent for new snipers I guess.

    • I got 4 kills with 1 shot from icebreaker in d1, that was hilarious. Pure luck.

    • D1: I tried to snipe but the level designs where usually too fast pace or close quarters for them to be useful often enough. Once they added the really big Crucible maps though my Snipers and Quenbreaker did amazing things. I once played an hour long sniping match on the largest map in D1, we set it to rumble it was fun as hell trying to catch them unaware before they got me. It was only four of us so it made that map seem biger. LoL. It wasn't till the Rise of Iron that I used D1s Snipers in PvE. D2: Snipers are more useful in PvE than they where in D1 as I'm able to make good use of them in things besides Patrols. While they do well on a select few Crucible maps, none of those compare to how epic the largest D1 maps where. We need large almost patrol zone sized PvP maps with wide open spaces and fewer sharp corners. Too many maps have what I call Shotgun corridors, small tunnels surrounded by sharp turns. Quite frankly I want a Sniper with an Iron Sight that has no zoom that is one of the only reasons I want No Land Beyond brought to D2.

        • Not recent but I had a sniper with Dragon Fly early in Forsaken and I got the collateral and the third with Dragon Fly explosion and it has happened twice. I was very amped at the first one.

        • I remember back in D1 Trials, I managed to get a collateral because some hunter jumped right between me and the guy I was aiming at. Unfortunately, the clip is on my old PS4, which died early last year.

I was always reluctant to use a sniper in D1. I hated the things. I knew I wasnt going to be good enough to wield on so I barely ever used one. The only ones I did use were icebreaker and NLB because they were good solid weapons. Now in D2 I only started using a sniper once the menagerie was released. Beloved was everywhere and was, at the time the most common sniper rifle in the crucible. I went into the menagerie and my first role has been the best so far. Nearly all of my stats except reload were better than everyone elses, and the moving target/ no distractions perks helped so much. I currently use it in crucible and I'm having a blast https://youtu.be/cp6RuAPbKKQ

          • Killing 2 with 1 shot is definitely my most memorable. Also the amount of poor golden gunners I've killed. And yeah the dawnblades and strikers that I headshot yet still they live.

          • I picked up sniping first time in S4. Not that much, like a hundred kills or so only. It was quite fun and rewarding to know your positioning and cleaning up unsuspecting targets. Currently I got an enhanced sniper targeting and unflinching on my armor, tried it with the same snipers from S4 and now I just want to go back. I'm pretty sure those perks just make mediocre snipers into MLG_xXx_Sn1p3r_Gods.

          • I picked up a swiper rifle one time. Pretty easy gun to use, just aim, swipe, and pull trigger. Swipe, rinse, and repeat.

          • D1. Salvage, 3v3 The Drifter map. I run toward the relic, but the enemy makes it there first. I pull my sniper to engage. Fire a shot and pop one of them in the chest. They go for cover. Fire another shot hitting another in the chest. He turns to engage me. The first guy who had run for cover pops out and liens himself up with the second guy. I pull the trigger. Double headshot. I laugh my ass off because I’d never done or seen that before. Didn’t realize it was a thing. Was in a fireteam and my friend walks up to the two ghosts there and uses a “step up” emoji. Not sure what the actual name was but he beat his chest then threw his arms out like “come at me.” Made me laugh even harder.

          • For me it was ricocheting a round off of the heavy spawn during a comp match. To give context we were doing survival on bannerfall and it was down to the last round, me and one guardian were the only ones alive at the point and he had his back to the heavy and had put up his barrier so I didn’t have a line of sight. I didn’t realize at the time that my sniper had ricochet rounds on it so I was stumped for the first few seconds after it happened before I realized what I had done.

Playing doubles in Destiny 1. Using Hereafter, my favorite sniper in the game. We load into the earth map with the bridge in the middle. (I forget the name.) Teammate is AFK on arrival, run out on my own and peek down the bridge, the two enemies line up and bam, two birds with one stone. I still have an Xbox clip saved of it and watch it all the time, such a satisfying way to start a match.

            • My personal favorites are always the collats. Destiny is technically not made for them to be possible without armor piercing rounds, but if two guardians have their heads right next to each other then sometimes weird things can happen with hitboxes and bullet magnetism. Also possible to get collats if a weakened guardian is nearby the one you shoot and your sniper has firefly/dragonfly, did that one a few times with the Kings Fall sniper.

            • Ah my child I could go on for days but for the sake of relevance I’ll go with my most recent good story. ‘Twas a game of comp with 2 of my friends and there was this one man on the opposing team that felt like he was exactly on my sniper level a true rival if you will, he could land the most amazing shots but it was still a 50/50 as to who would get who first I just had to send them a message complimenting them on their skills. His team lost but he and I were at the top of each team with the same k/d and then the very next game there he was once again on the opposing team and same story brilliant fun and impressive shots, after this I had to invite him. He joined the party and was very polite and humble about our compliments, then we went on a (I think) 5 win streak and as being in my first week or two of competitive that was hecking exciting then at the end of the night we said our goodbyes and parted ways I haven’t seen or heard of them since.

              • I don't know how common it is, but I got a 2'fer with my Beloved. It wouldn't have worked out if one of the guys hadn't been lagging. I recorded it of course and every time I watch it in slow mo, if baffles the shit out of me because the guy in the back dies first. The 2 guys got mad apparently because almost everytime they rounded a corner I popped them. The 2'fer must have pushed them over the limit though, because they teabagged the shit out of me after that.
