You guys want sbmm so bad lol, only if you knew every game will now be just like IB minus the level advantages.
You’ll only get lag if sbmm is brought with no dedicated severs.
Ggs. You played yourselves.

I've had many conversations about Destiny matchmaking for both PvE and PvP with the people who make the game. I know very well how it all works.

That is actually how it works, so why say that? With a p2p network, cbmm is always going to have less lag/latency when compared to sbmm. Due to matchmaking people close to each other, rather than based on skill. There will be less lag between 12 people, that all live within 50 square blocks, compared to 12 people living in 12 different cities, possibly on different continents, right?
That is actually how it works, so why say that?
Her statement isn't correct. You don't only get lag with sbmm and anyone who has played Destiny the last 5 years knows that lag exists regardless of sbmm being present or not. It still exists in QP in Y2. It existed at the end of D1 when it was removed and it existed in vanilla D1 before skill was factored higher.
With a p2p network, cbmm is always going to have less lag/latency when compared to sbmm.
Sbmm does not mean connection isn't still factored. This fairy tale that it's a choice of one or the other is one of the worst falsehoods spread on these forums over the years.
Due to matchmaking people close to each other, rather than based on skill.
The game matches by region first regardless of skill being factored or not and when it's strictly cbmm as Y2 QP, the second you introduce fireteams to the mix, proximity goes out the window as only fireteam leaders are guaranteed to be in the same region and their teammates can still be from anywhere else around the globe.
There will be less lag between 12 people, that all live within 50 square blocks, compared to 12 people living in 12 different cities, possibly on different continents, right?
FIRETEAMS. You're never going to have that and even with dedicated servers, you're still going to have lag and latency because if a fireteam leader is on the west coast, the game would be on a West coast server. If they have friends from the East coast on their team, they're not going to have the same connection quality or latency. Hope this all helped you.

As always a great, thought out reply. And if you were only replying to her comment, and quoting her comment, it would have been 100% dead on. With my reply, the reply you chose to quote, you seemingly skipped over the fact that I said, "with straight cbmm, you will experience, 'less,' lag." I never said, "no," lag or latency. I also brought up 12 separate, as in solo cue people, not fireteams. I agree fireteams matchmaking is different and if you are in a fireteam made up of people all over the country, or world, even with cbmm, you will still experience lag and latency. Oh well, thanks for remaining civil and have a great day!

Thankfully, there will still be a connection based classic playlist and comp will still be rank based so we should be fine.
