I know there are technical issues going on that's making a decision like this happen, but I'm still not happy with it regardless.
I don't think I've ever played a game where the extra things I specifically paid for...expired.
I get to keep the gear and all...but the content that's supposed to fuel the game is only temporary.
I'm already not enthusiastic to farm the same exact strikes or play the same crucible maps forever.
Much like with all of these current dlcs, a lot of them are kind of just worthless after you get what you want, but having the option to play through it again if you wanted is something that should always be a standard.
I'm not paying for access to an amusement part, I'm paying to OWN that content available.
It doesn't matter if it just gathers dust, it's supposed to be mine.
At that point, it sounds more like an event than something I'm allowed to own.
Something that you play for a bit but it isn't something you care about or try not to get too attached to because it's temporary.
They HAVE TO clarify what exactly would be leaving with the annual pass upon seasons end.
If there was a raid and it's just removed, I'm going to be angry.
If it's some story missions and some planet to patrol, I don't think I'll really care.
But having to pick and choose what I do and don't care about is just unsettling.
Because if you miss out its...pretty much just tough shit and you lose access to what you paid for.
How they will handle the acquisition of the dlc gear you missed is something that worries me and having clarification would ease my skepticism a lot.
I've supported Destiny since the first beta and I've continued to do so, but certain decisions have made me displeased with the company in charge, of which all responsibility now falls on.
Don't make this be the reason I stop playing Destiny.
I want to continue supporting the game I enjoy because of the good things they do and not because of an addiction.
I've spent so much time on Destiny, please don't give me a reason to stop supporting it.
Edit:
Just to clarify really quickly because my post is a jumble of crap, I'm worried about how this content is going to be handled.
What will be taken away, what will stay and how the next season will accommodate for this is VERY inportant.
The very idea of losing content at all is bad, but some more information, clarity, etc, would help a great deal.
I have no issue with shadow keep or paying for dlc, I just don't like the sound of the annual pass.

2 RepliesEdited by Fate: 8/23/2019 3:39:08 AMThey aren’t removing anything it’s just a updated live service agreement to cover the next dlc The only content being removed is probably eververse inventory and some minor things It’s probably referring to limited time events
-
Unfortunately that’s the way it is now. If you read the latest agreements you would notice that you agreed to the changes that are coming. Just a snippet of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/raidsecrets/comments/chyc2o/had_to_agree_to_a_new_license_agreement_today_and/

This is the first time I have never pre ordered, and it looks like I was right to hold off . But good news for those who did , when Bungie removes anything from next season you can be sure they will re sell it back to you again a year later . I don’t like the idea of removing content we have to pay for every few months , I’ll watch and see how it goes but likely I won’t throw any money at my screen .

1 ReplyEdited by Musashi: 8/20/2019 3:00:28 AMI haven't played and don't intend to play any of the forges again since I got what I wanted from them. Same goes for the reckoning, so meh.
-
2 RepliesIf I pay for it, I should be able to keep it. If not, they need to do free events with micro transactions supporting them, like Solstice,Whisper,Outbreak, etc. I don’t like the idea of taking stuff away, especially if money is involved.
-
4 RepliesThis cheap manœuvre is used to force pre orders on players who realized that playing Bungie’s newly released content was never worth it. Instead it was much better to wait for months after all the nerfs, XP caps and the like cheap tactics to distract from the actual lack of content have become past, and that the game becomes better priced before buying. It will fail, since they rely on dumb metrics and are too arrogant to realize that it’s actually the worst approach to regain trust. It’s terrible to think that this franchise went from the most promising opportunity to a market killer.
-
Maybe it wont be content like the forges, but more like the infinite forest, or current edz activities for solstice mini bosses. I can't see why they would make a new premium activity like menagerie or reckoning and then turn it off. Surely only applies to seasonal activities which are already temporary and which no-one cases about losing?

I know there are technical issues going on that's making a decision like this happen
There actually aren't, it's just the classical Bungie deception tactics. The file size gets artificially blown up with Shadowkeep to justify "having" to release Destiny 3 eventually. There is no way adding the freakin moon doubles the game in size. Right now we are at 87GB, Shadowkeep will need 165GB of disk space, it's total bs. Countless games have proven that expanding them for years or even more than a decade is absolutely possible. Bungie simply doesn't want that because the release of a new full price game generates more launch sale$.

This game has went from 14 million players, to celebrating hitting a 1 million with any new content update as it stands today. This wouldn't be the case if good decisions were made for the overall health of the game. Before Destiny 2 was released, they should have used a new engine and purchased dedicated servers if their own models cant handle or are too hard to work with. It hard to imagine that Shadowkeeps file size alone, is bigger than the rest of D2's entirety, even when Bungie acknowledged its smaller than Foresaken.

4 RepliesEdited by AussieAlbatross: 8/18/2019 8:50:47 PMPeople have held back on buying DLC because every one beforehand has been trash, half assed, with broken promises. Now, you are forced to enter the blind abyss again with your hard earned money... Mate, bungie are a shambles, instead of coming up with a pathetic business plan, why dont they actually listen to the -blam!-ing community for once to help you make some successful content? -blam!- off with this director's cut trash, talk a load of trash while ignoring all the main problems, boring ass un interactive streams, its a joke... Why the -blam!- are you making yr 1 f2p? We paid for it, and according to you it should expire after a certain amount time, so these new kids should have to pay for it. Oh, but wait, the population is so bad since launch you need to entice more people into this game.

1 ReplyI’ve got a love hate thing with Destiny and have done since Destiny 1 however I’ve still pre ordered shadowkeep as I wouldn’t want to miss out on anything. And have a laugh with friends while I’m on so it’s all good.
-
They're dragging this game out now. Back in February I realised this, tired of the same activities, and knowing that it's just going to be more of the same, I quit. Yes, I'm still lurking the forums because I can... But I've put in 3,000+hrs into D1/D2 and that's enough. I wasn't particularly interested in doing the same checklists, in the same activities any longer just because of 1 piece of new content (activity). I have nothing against anyone still enjoying the game, this is simply my take.

Upvote. I find it HIGHLY disgusting that bungie would make us pay for the season pass or be left out then proceed to take that content away that we’ve paid for. Wtf happen to you bungie? Bungie aka Activison Jr. Smfh.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Justin_Giver: 8/19/2019 8:58:36 PMActually, you are paying to ride the ride bungie provides, so exactly like an amusement park. You don't own the content at all. Further, we already have this, festival of the lost and the forrest, or EAZ and solstice, these things dissappear. I have no issue with it whatso ever.
-
18 RepliesAs someone who has missed bits and pieces of each content offering because of work, family, and whatnot, (I still don't have a single title) this also worries me. At this point I feel like I'm better off not even wasting my time. There's no way I'll be able to keep up with the grind that'll be required to get my money's worth from each season. And on top of everything else, I've been constantly losing interest in this grind for some time. I don't even have legendary Solstice armor on my main. And honestly, I couldn't care less. Feels bad.
-
1 ReplyIf d2 is getting too big... Where is d3? Not sure i understand the point of continuing this episode if its becoming a burden. End d2 with shadowkeep. Start d3. Yes?

I keep seeing people using the Menagerie as an example of why it's ok for Bungie to remove CONTENT (not events) that we've paid for. I would make a reasonable assertion that participation is down mainly because they fixed the chest "glitch". What people forget is the Menagerie, as well as the better part of Season of Opulence, was made by a different Activision developer. I would guess they purposely included this "glitch" as a way to reward players appropriately for time invested. As we know, Bungie believes in a less rewarding grind (i.e. 2 blues and 5 tokens for Nightfall completion). If Bungie wants to continue their egregious grinds, then they need to maintain their paid CONTENT for as long as possible or people won't bother buying it to begin with. Just my thoughts Thanks for your time
-
10 RepliesAll they're going to give people is yet another room with a boss standing still on a stage that you have to shoot at forever. All before a timer runs out. Have fun with that.
-
83 RepliesIf I pay for content, I fully expect to be able to play that content as and when I want. If that is not the case, I won't buy the content. Simple.
-
3 RepliesNothing should be removed, only added
-
Expect the 95% figure to grow to 96%, then 97%, then 98%, and so on, until the game is eventually so underpopulated and has so few players actually supporting it financially that it's forced to close down.
-
92 RepliesEdited by Spawn: 8/18/2019 5:28:53 PMTBH, I don’t mind it. Bungie has made it clear from the start of Destiny 1 in their terms and conditions that they can update, remove, adjust any element of the game for any reason or no reason and that we all purchase licenses to access content, not own content. It will be interesting to see what the specifics are for it, but it will definitely create a “you had to be there for it” moments down the road.

7 RepliesWhen was the last time you played Blind Well or Escalation Protocol?
-
2 RepliesSeems they’ll do it tastefully, like the raid will initiate the vex invasions, we complete the activity over the course of the season, and then we “end” the conflict with the vex at then end of the season in some sort of one-time event/ activity (think: Niobe Labs but not as ignorant). IMO if it is done this way it would almost be better than the system we have now, where giant plot holes are left open to avoid removing content (looking at you dreaming city curse; can’t we just break you already?!? Oh yeah, I forgot, gotta keep the cycle cuz “We CaNt ReMoVe CoNtEnT!¡!¡!)
-
I’m guessing the things that will disappear will be things like escalation protocol, blind well, forges, reckoning, menagerie, etc. they all fill a very similar role to the game and are pretty played out by the turn of a season
-
2 RepliesWell technically we’ve already paid for content that’s disappeared, Trials and Faction Rallies.
