SMGs are no where to be found in
Crucible. Close quarter weapon archetypes like Shotguns,Hand Cannons, and Telestos(only that fusion rifle) are popular in pvp. SMGs how ever are in the shadows of pvp. We need SMGs to get a buff because we need an actual counter to aggressive playstyles. Titans are rushing all the time with Sprint melees and shotguns to punish those who aren't aware. And even if you are aware... U might get one shotted because you have nothing to counter aggressive playstyles. SMGs are needed to punish careless rushers and make people think twice about the fights they're choosing.

2 RepliesEdited by Doc Walker: 11/4/2018 6:37:42 AMThe stability sucks. I think they should phase out of the game. TTK is fine. If smgs are to have a place, buff them in PVE. That sounds pretty darn fun getting in the fray
-
2 RepliesGood. They never shouldve been invented. You really want to go back to year 1 d2 when all you ever saw was antiope uriels? I dont.
-
2 RepliesHell no, smgs are for garbage players I never want to see a Antiope again, besides sidearms are stupid good for countering shotgun rushers
-
I can only assume the people who seem to nail you from miles away with an SMG must be using a mouse adapter or aim bot.
-
Only SMG I use (in PvE) is Riskrunner.. catalyst is ace 😉

5 Replies*pets Cerberus+1* this here is my baby, each notch represents an unfortunate guardian who dared to try and shotgun me, shoulder charge me, or melee me. I’m almost out of room almost time for me to have ghost fabricate another one to continue my massacre. Showed Shaxx this a few hours ago and he started laughing and said “you I like, now get back in there and cause some more mayhem!”.

12 RepliesPeople underestimate High Impact fusions with backup plan. I mean, I’m kinda glad they do cause I get lots of blind shotgun rushers with it, but if you’re looking for a new approach give it a few rounds. I’m using an old Wizened Rebuke with BP and it doesn’t even have a mod slot (where I could fit targeting or stability) and the thing destroys.

Use huckleberry. As they rush you the fire rate increases. You don't need headshots. Just land bodies as they rush you and it's a wrap
-
2 RepliesI just want their damage to be on par with shotguns in pve
-
Ep smg is good. Still is effective to this day.
-
Scrubmachine guns
-
4 RepliesSmgs should have little/no recoil from the hip. Might help with CQC situations
-
Ngl I forgot about smgs
-
Try a decent 720 RPM AR instead. Better damage and stability over distance in a lot of cases, and a little more versatile. I know that -on paper-, 600 RPM SMGs have a better ideal TTK, but I get better performances out of a secondary 720. Could just be me, YMMV. Misfit never disappoints me though.

Edited by Next Week: 11/4/2018 3:58:03 AMAntiope and Sondok still rip. But shotguns are going to play better in small spaces and in tight angles than any other weapon. Even while jumping. Same with Titan melees. It's what they're best at. If you aren't willing to use them, you shouldn't be playing in ranges or close to corners where they're most effective. Yes, that means you'll be put into disadvantageous situations more often than not because you'll be forced to give up ground to gain range for your longer TTK weapons, and in close range you'll be using guns that aren't optimal compared to shotguns. But that's an active decision on your part not to make use of a tool everyone has access to. And say they did make subs more effective overall. What's to stop people from slapping on an Icarus or Counterbalance mod, getting their Outlaw/Kill Clip rolls and aping at you with them instead? That's why everyone ran Antiope before Forsaken's sandbox changes anyway. But all of that aside, I'm sorry. Playing passively is not going to be the answer to every situation. You can't always afford to be reactionary. Learn to play more aggressively yourself and you'll be dreading the situations you described much less often.

I mainly use smg’s because I’m anti-n0 skill shotguns.
-
1 ReplyCuz u can’t just whip out an SMG and drop a homie. No ones gonna put themselves at a disadvantage against people that are using shotguns and fusion rifles
-
Sht....i clap shotgunners with smgs all the time my dude
-
As much as I hated getting mowed down by the IKELOS king of SMGs, I agree. Sidearms need a tiny buff in damage for more consistant shotty denial. Im not talking Wormwood level of damage but somewhere in between would be nice.
-
1 ReplyI still use the Ikelos SMG regularly...although mostly in pve. The shield break perk makes your primary weapon deadly for a few seconds, and Grave Robber is fantastic in close up trash mob battles like EP, Gambit, or Blind Well. It does decent in Crucible, especially if you get the jump on your opponent and can spray them from their blind side.
-
They should be exempt from the precision damage focus. Give them more consistent damage overall.
-
The thing with SMGs is that you can’t just directly face a shotgun rusher head on. I have a pretty good antiope roll and the key with it is to bait the shotgun rushers and just jump over them. I see so many SMG users just attempt to outgun a titan sprinting towards them straight on with a shotgun without even moving
-
5 RepliesI'd love SMG's to be worth using just to have l to break up the endless cycle of being killed by either a hand cannon, nova warp, shoulder charge a shotty or bygones pulse rifle. And I've tried my best to use them but they're just...weak.
-
3 RepliesYou know that radar thing in the corner? If you see an enemy on it, maybe back away from doors and such? In D1 while Shotguns where the meat it was still possible to bait them into overcommiting and then destroying them with something else. Just learn the range and the situations where you shouldn't push and it will help your SMG game. Altough buff SMG and Sidearms lol

1 ReplyHow many shots does a shotgun spawn with in PVP?
-
That's cause people like to use what they find easiest. Shotguns, as long as you have decent thumbs you can get kills pretty easily which is why is the most popular weapon type in pvp. Even snipers are easier to use then smgs.
