It’s not free because a season pass ends after a year, and new content costs money to make. They have to charge something for it to cover costs and make a profit. $40 could be earned by mowing one or two lawns. You could get hundreds of hours of playtime in return for your two hours of labor. Just like you would be laboring to earn the money, developers have to labor to make the game. Do you expect to get a free ride on their back?

  • You’re right. I was expressing an opinion that at first was out of anger towards Bungie. But then turned into a talk about how felt that they were robbing people who bought the original two dlc our of their money because they made them free. I’m sorry if this hurt or offended you in any way that was not my intention in the slightest

No worries man. I’m not offended or bothered at all. We all have a right to an opinion. Personally, I didn’t buy the DLC’s until after they came out, as I wanted to see for myself if they were worth it. I passed on curse, but got it in a bundle later when war-mind released. I think if we could avoid pre-purchasing, companies would have more an incentive to deliver a quality product. Good luck.

  • Don’t kid yourself. They had this content made last year. It’s just now being released. It’s just the way gaming companies work now, for better or for worse. Companies create the entire game and then take pieces out and sell them to you later.

  • They could’ve made it 10 years ago, but that doesn’t matter, because it still cost them something to make. If you want everything free, you’re not gonna get it. Somebody has to make it, which is work, which has value. You get to decide if it’s worth your money. If not, spend it elsewhere.

  • Please. We as gamers let these companies rip us off with these half-assed DLCs. It’s our own fault. And I’ll admit I will continue to contribute to this problem because I have enough disposable income to do it. I’m just not going sit here and pretend it’s justified and convince myself I’m not being ripped off. Consumers are always on the losing end. It’s capitalism and it’s a beautiful thing I wouldn’t want any other way.

  • If you think you’re being ripped off, you’re the fool for spending the money. Save it or spend it on something else. To me, even if they’re making more than they “need”, there are not a lot of things for $40 that will return as many hours of use. Try putting the shoe on the other foot. Invent or design something, produce it by the millions, and give it away for free. Expecting to get such things for free, or as some governments to do, mandating it, means you won’t get them at all.
