Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from, yes, you guessed it; Victorian London! I guess that “you guessed it” part only applies if you guessed Victorian London, though.. Anyway, I’m here being held against my will by Evie Frye, who seems convinced I’m a Templar for some reason..
Evie: “Some reason? You just said ‘I love being a Templar’.”
In Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Evie, in Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Context is important here! Sheesh, at least it’s not your brother that found me; I’d be dead already..
Well, while we get this mess sorted out, let’s get on with the post!
As you may or, much more likely, may not know, I am a writer. An unpublished one, yes, but a writer nonetheless, and in the story I am writing, I intend to have a steampunk-esque city. My current attempts at writing a description this city thus far have ended terribly, so I’m looking for some inspiration.
Some writers draw their inspiration from books, movies, or real life locations, but I find the media that helps me visualize things the best are video games; being able to stop and examine your surroundings, and such. So, I’m looking for some games that are either A. of the steampunk genre, or B. taking place in (preferably fictional) Victorian cities that steampunk is oft based on. I’m playing Assassin’s Creed Rogue right now, and have played Bloodborne enough times to memorize just about every area, but I don’t know any other games. There’s also Skyrim I suppose, but you don’t see many Dwemer cities in Skyrim.. Just dungeons..
While both Bloodborne & AC:S are Victorian (which is good), neither are really steampunk (which is bad), so I’d prefer something that’s entirely steampunk, but either way, drawing from 3 Victorian cities should help me visualize a new city well enough, without completely ripping off Yharnam, or London.
Tl;dr? Here’s my point!
Looking for a game to help me visualize a steampunk/Victorian city.
Don’t say Bloodborne, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, or Skyrim.
Thanks in advance!

1 ReplyWhile not quite steampunk and only partially victorian era, Alice Madness Returns is a pretty fantastic game.
