Don't change the Infusion System

204

This would make it far easier and would make grinding way less of a pain. I have multiple swords I want to use and main. But I can't because in the past week I have not received one highly leveled sword. Waiting this long to get to somewhere you'd like to be is a bit infuriating to me, It's a bit boring and seems like a poor design choice just meant to make you grind for more gear. We should change the infusion system, so please Bungie, make it so... All Kinetic Weapons should be capable of being infused with All Kinetic Weapons All Energy Weapons should be capable of being infused with All Energy Weapons All Power Weapons should be capable of being infused with All Power Weapons The armor is fine but wouldn't mind if they made it so I can Infuse a leg piece to a chest piece and a class item to a helmet. Instead of allowing other classes to infuse non class specific armor. Also if you disagree please share your opinion. EDIT: Well it looks like the poll shows a significant amount for changing the infusion system. I'm all for it. We shouldn't have to grind our butts off just to get what we want to main with. I see that a bit of people are saying that they don't want it to change and it makes the game last longer/ it's not a bad thing/ Don't cry. Is it fun for you to grind for hours and not receive the piece of gear that you NEED to get to where you want to be? In a game that has a main motto of "Choose your own path, become legend." The process of getting there is painful, even compared to the forever 29 days. Plus I don't want to wait 2 weeks to become legend whenever luck isn't in my favor. Just doesn't make sense, it's counterproductive and causes people to feel scared about hopping into Raids, Nightfalls, or Trials because their weapons don't seem adequate to them. Played a Raid last night with some guy who was using sturm and drang, we were in the final boss room, you think he wanted to use that whenever scout rifles are the better choice?

  • Can't make it too easy to level up other wise you would have nothing to grind for and you would be done with the game too quick.

  • I'll admit, infusion was broken in D1 for a few reasons that I'm pretty sure many D1 players know by now but, in D2 they managed to make it worse. While this new infusion system is way more realistic (you can't put an assault rifle into a pistol realistically), it broke many things that made the original infusion system good which are as such: 1. It wasn't overly complicated in D1. It made it so the player could easily make whatever weapon they wanted relevant at endgame as long as it was a legendary or exotic. In this idea, the game was somewhat easier but, it at least wasn't too RNG based. 2. The new system is WAY too reliant on RNG being nice to you. Any Destiny player probably knows the pain of RNG by now for how unforgiving it is in most cases and how there has at least been once where a player who does absolutely nothing in a public event/crucible match gets an exotic for no skill or anything (it's supposed to be incentive but, it is not handled correctly, which is why I hate reward systems like in Destiny ENTIRELY based off RNG). Because of this, it could be days, possibly a week or two until your Origin Story Legendary auto rifle or until your Sweet Business exotic becomes powerful enough for the end game activities like Nightfall or the Leviathan, which is way too unforgiving, making even D1's RNG look godly at times compared to D2's. 3.TOO MUCH GRINDING. Let the boredom commence! I hate grinding for too long in literally any game and with how unforgiving RNG is like I said above, I never look forward to grinding heroic events for engrams unless I have friends and even then... Well, I'll leave it at this, the grinding and loot system makes the game too much of a grind and too unrewarding. At least in D1, I wouldn't need to spend over 50 exotic engrams to get what I want because there almost seemed to be (I could be wrong but, it definitely felt like this was the case) a higher chance to get exotics you don't have yet with the more exotics you got in D1, a game that promoted finding every exotic with a mechanic to support it after a while too. In D2 though, this doesn't happen and it almost seems like to me that in order to even make your legendaries relevant, you have to infuse EXOTICS into them just to keep them relevant (in my eyes anyway). A few solutions though: 1. Make loot from heroic public events more rewarding (If I did the most damage to a fallen walker, I should be getting something like a legendary at least right?) 2. Fix RNG for exotics (it shouldn't have taken me 3 entire days and 15 exotic engrams just so I could finally get my Insurmountable Skullfort) 3. Make the grinding more fun (I should be having fun trying to grind heroic public events with friends and not feel cheated out for having to kill the Darkblade Mk.II and get nothing while someone else gets an exotic for doing nothing. Make them more engaging.)

I partially agree. Currently, Kinetic & Energy weapons share the same weapon pools. So there's a lot of chances to get the weapons you need. If you go by weapon class, then you miss out on upgrading that nice kinetic Auto rifle because you cant get a Kinetic one to drop. Proposed change: leave kinetic & energy weapons infusion system the same. Make power weapons infusable by all power weapons since their loot pool is significantly smaller.

        • I actually like the new infusion system and don't see it as the problem. The real problem is once you hit 265. All you really have to level up after that are your weekly milestones. Once your done with those the only way to level is farming exotics. While I'm alright with them having level caps on legendary engrams you get for turning in your tokens to vendors, Bungie really needs to release the light cap on Strikes and maybe even give you a very small chance of a higher level from the public events and opening chests in the lost sectors. Crap, give me a shot at higher gear by opening chests in the lost sectors and I'd be hitting everyone of those. Might even want to move in to some of them! So anyways, its not the infusion system thats the problem. Its that once your done with the milestones for the week, other than exotics, there's nothing that will drop that will help you raise your light level. Hence no reason to play other than to have fun till the next weekly reset.

          • The infusion system is garbage, it is a waste with the stupid lock in place. I would not mind as much if you had to infuse specific weapons into into each other.

          • I honestly don't mind the weapon infusion system the way it is what I want changed is that i can't infuse class armor from one class into another, one of the big reason/advantages to having multiple characters was always the ability to give them leftovers from the other characters to help power level them.

          • I voted dont change the system for a 1 main reason: the game is already too easy, no need to make it easier. I mean, I have no idea what 'pain' you speak of when it comes to grinding, cause there is none. We get loot from every thing; leveling up is quick & simple, even aided cause we get the 'well rested bonus' at the start of each reset, and cause of it being account based; there are always things going on to get loot/experience, etc. When bungie said they were gonna make the game more casual, they werent kidding. To me, so far the hardest thing to do in the game is finding time to play with non-clan mates, especially when it comes to crucible, nightfall, etc. It seems people are on some 'clan or nothing' type thing. I apologize, off on a tangent. Anyway, dont get me wrong, i'm not complaining about the grind being easy, i prefer that than the grind of early d1 days. The thing is though: when you make it so easy, you run the risk of people not having shit to do, i.e. leveling up(characters & loot). If they changed the system to how you suggest, that would speed up that process. People would be infusing everything into everything else, leveling up even faster, then running out of shit to do for leveling. Yea, i'm aware it's a false sense of extending gameplay to try to get certain things, but when the game is fun like d2 is, i dont mind.

I didn't like what Bungie did to the infusion system in Ttk, but after they fixed it 7 months later. It is a hell of a lot better then this. They need to stop constantly changing the leveling system and at this rate when D3 hits you will be on 6th or 7th leveling system that is straight up stupid. Put it back to how Ttk was and stop trying to fix what isn't broken.

                • Bungie gave up towards the end of Year 3 when they allowed 400 Light to be super easy to get to. Allowing us to do the same as D1 did with the Infusion system would make getting to max light a joke again. Sure, I'd like to infuse a crappy higher light pulse into an auto rifle that I want to use, but that would cut down the grind even more. It's already bad enough that RNG weapon rolls were removed, and I think removing the "grind for the perfect god roll" has made Destiny 2 quite boring when you've come to realize that a lot of the weapons you dismantle, you will never use because they are set with crap perks.

                    • Honestly, what do you people want here? Destiny 1 players: The grind is too easy. I can get to max light so quick why continue playing? Bungie: Oh guys, we've kept the old infusion system in place for Destiny 2 but instead of all primaries infusing into all primaries, you now have to match weapon types (Scout, Pulse, SMG, etc). We have made a lot of options for you to be able to grind for the gear and level you want to achieve as well. Destiny 2 players: The grind is too hard, why can't we infuse all things into all things. Like seriously, it's meant to be a grindy game. Don't like it, don't play RPGs or Loot Based Shooters.
