14 RepliesLuke Smith is a total knob and a turncoat. Bear in mind this was a guy who used to criticise the corporate direction gaming was going. Then turned his back and joined it, then laughs at people who are critical of it.

101 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 8/30/2017 5:54:54 PMYou mean after 3 years of him showing no regard it's all okay now? Edit: Correction, 10 years if not more this man has been one of the most disrespectful people that works for Bungie.
I'm glad i'm not a push over... People like that need to earn that respect, not one little deed is going to cut it.
3 RepliesAll that video showed me was they may have finally hired a PR guy and his first job was to tell Luke Smith to not be a prick.
-
That fat bitch didn't say shit.
-
Luke smith is ruining video games.
-
9 RepliesI have a question for him: What the hell is up with 4 vs 4 PVP? Feels like a huge step backwards. We should be playing 8 vs 8 or 16 vs 16.
-
watch video to catch him saying something dumb, but was surprised that I was actually interested in what he was saying. When he's not pissing people off by saying the wrong thing, he seems like a cool dude that I would like to tip back a couple beers and play some video games with.
-
Luke Smith is great!!!

4 RepliesIt was pretty funny. Reminded me of the webmaster letters we used to have.

I LOVE Luke Smith like nobody would understand. He isn't afraid to get a little snarky with the community and I think that's because he knows at the end of the day we're playing HIS game and not the other way around.

Edited by LordOf27Donuts: 9/2/2017 7:18:20 AMHe was hilarious at the Pax keynote yesterday

Right up front, I'll say I'm not a fan of Luke Smith. He's said some things that concern me greatly, and he is the design lead for D2 which, like it or not, means much of the responsibility falls on him for the direction the game went. Therefore, he's (partially) responsible for many of the changes I do not like about D2. So again I'm not a fan of the guy, at least not professionally. That said, I liked the video. I thought he was genuinely funny at times and seems to have a genuine passion for what he does. I respect that. The "passive-aggressive winky face" quip actually got a smile out of me. Sarcastic, but not condescendingly so. He came across as the kind of guy I wouldn't mind having an occasional drink with. Hopefully it's a sign they're trying to fix their damaged reputation among the community.

Once an ass always an ass & that my friends describes Luke Smith's persona!

16 Repliesif you don't count that none of the questions answered really addressed any of the many concerns that players have been asking for three years now...*cough*...then you have yourself an amicable bloke shooting the shit right before D2 releases if you don't count

HEY LUKE.... why don't we have dedicated servers? why did Bungie feel that the loadout had to change? why don't we have more options available when it comes to pvp? match size? game options? if we are losing everything from Cabal taking our Light and destroying the Tower, why is Bungie slowly trickling back to us the exact....same....gear....and abilities? will you come over to my house and make me some pancakes? if we are losing our supers, why can't we create/learn new ones? how is the 'glimmer' economy going to work in D2 if there is nothing to bargain for, we have to find everything? not all of these are my own questions, i picked up a few from other players on the forums, but i don't remember hearing anything about glimmer, our supers, or pvp matches. could just be me could be the drugs are wearing off...

64 RepliesI've never understood the hate for the guy. he is awesome. He has a couple of quotes that you can spin very poorly... but you can tell the guy is passionate.
-
3 RepliesBest part was in the first few questions he only said Xbox, not PlayStation. Not that I'm saying we're better, but that he actually acknowledged us. Felt kinda nice for us to be noticed for once. Especially before release when Sony has priority over all ads. Plus, the whole, "I'm gonna be Frank. The best place to play Destiny 2, is in the place where you can play it with people you wanna play games with," was a nice touch. I'll give him credit for that.

1 ReplyIt was good but I'm pretty sure they had him on a short leash, maybe even scripted. Even his apology to the community where even he said he sounded like an asshat wasn't enough to keep posters from demanding he lose his job. Some people just say what's rolling around in their head, doesn't make them bad people. Just not good public speakers, definitely not good for on the spot interviews. I think he falls into that category.

agreed RIP Ikora

Agreed, I enjoyed it!

1 ReplyIt's sad when you can scroll through a post, and pick out the negative comments just from the screen names. The same people have been nothing but toxic and negative for the last 2-3 years.
-
They were all softball questions, and I just kept throwing money at my screen while I watched.

Loved it!

Except he didn't really answer anything important, and some of the questions were evaded. Somebody asked something about differentiating between the classes, and he responded with "choose alternate gear that manipulates the stats" You can do that on all three. The whole point of the question was more "will hunters be faster BY DEFAULT" or "will titans be tankier BY DEFAULT" So really, no, all three classes are homogenized, the only difference is in their grenades, supers, and jumps. I'd personally much rather play a tank class, a support class, or a DPS class. I'd rather it feel like more of an RPG. But oh well. I'd rather him just come out and say why they don't think that would be a good thing. I'll assume it's because they're terrible at balancing the game, so you'll end up seeing "requires 6 titans for this strategy" etc.

Perhaps link what you're referring to. Lul
